This is the spot for everyone to let other members know a little bit about themselves.

My name is Michelle and I am a happily married mother of a very active toddler. I'm an accountant part time and also run my own bookkeeping business from home the rest of the week so I can mind our son.
I love reading a wide range of books and have a huge overflowing TBR pile that needs to be conquered.
I decided to start this group as a way for me to monitor my own progress and hopefully entice some new people to read along with me.
Once we have enough members additional books can start to be nominated each month and voted on so that we all have a variety to choose from and discuss.
Happy reading!!

Elaine | 140 comments Hi Michelle, well done setting up this group. I look forward to seeing it grow. My name is Elaine and I'm a mum too but my kids are a bit older than yours. I have a 21 yr old,a 19 yr old and a 9 yr old. I'm a passionate reader and love all things to do with books and reading. I work part time at Dymocks...which basically is my dream job, although suffice to say I probably will never save any money as I tend to spend much of what I earn on books!!!Look forward to seeing what other members like to read. Thanks for the invite.

message 4: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Hi Michelle, thanks for the invite to join your group. And congratulations on starting up this group.
My name is Sharon and I live in Victoria.
I love to read whenever I can. My favourite genres are chick lit, thriller, and true stories.
Apart from reading I enjoy gardening and going for walks with my spoilt 12 year old dog.
Happy Reading everyone :)

Hi Elaine & Sharon,
Thank you so much for joining. Hopefully we can grow this group to be a fun place for everyone to visit.
Elaine - you have my dream job! I am so jealous! Although I too would be constantly broke if I worked in a bookstore :-)
Sharon - your hobbies are virtually the same as mine but my spoilt dog (my first born) is 8 years old.

message 6: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Hi Group!

My name is Kate. I am an avid reader and use every spare minute with my nose stuck in some book or another. I enjoy classics, literary fiction, well-written thrillers, non-fiction, and at the moment, scary books. When I am not reading, you will most likely find me in front of a football, baseball, soccer, or hockey game on TV, or if I am really lucky at the stadium. I spend my days with my 2 1/2 year old niece so I spend a lot of time at the playground, the swimming pool and in the backyard (with and without a book). I am looking forward to reading and discussing a wide variety of books with this group.

Simone Ramone (simoneramone) | 19 comments Hi,

My name is Simone, I love discovering new books from talking to people. Can't remember how I managed before Goodreads,it's probable that I just bored the pants off non-readers.

I live in Sydney, I am a naturopath but am on the verge of finally retraining and switching to the travel industry to follow my other passion.

For the record, the worst thing I ever read was oryx and Crake by Margaret Atwood, the best was The Grapes of Wrath and my favourite is North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell (Pride and Prejudice and unions)

I meet with some other readers monthly but it will be nice to check-in with new people too.

message 12: by Robert (new)

Robert Hi,

I'm Robert, and I'm a high school student in Sydney. I used to be a complete bookworm but when high-school started I fell into movies and comics and all of that. Recently I've rediscovered the joy of reading more than one book a month, so I hope this group will help me find more books and rediscover what kinds of books I enjoy.
:)

I can't wait to get into Swan Song too as I have finally finished the epic book I was stuck on for ages for my real life bookclub :-)
I hope you have a look around and have fun!

Hi Gary, that sounds like my heaven! We are having the opposite weather here with extreme heat conditions most days up until a bit of a cooler change this week.
Welcome to the group!

message 27: by Angie (new)

Angie | 5 comments Its just raining here in Manchester, still. I'm so sick of the rain! Its good to see you here as well Gary, and your Sunday sounds like the perfect plan:) I was going to have my family round tomorrow but they've got friends at their house tonight. That probably means giant hangovers tomorrow, so I'll have the day to myself.

message 32: by Shaun P. (new)

Shaun P. Hello,

My name is Shaun. I am a 36 years old, happily married man. I just recently finished my IT degree online and finally find myself with time to read for pleasure on a regular basis again. I thought a good way to do that might be to check out the groups here on GoodReads. This one caught my attention because I like the idea of choosing something new, something old and of tackling a super long book over a period of months. When I looked at the upcoming books for April 3 of the 4 were in my TBR pile. I look forward to hopefully getting to know a few people on here that share a passion for books.

message 35: by Becky (new)

Becky Hi! I'm Becky. I live in Cleveland OH. I'm a single mom of a 10 yr old boy. He's got autism & ADHD so I have my hands full but wouldn't trade it for the world! He & I are both proud bookworms. I work full time in "Corporate America" & I HATE it! I'm currently starting the process of starting my personal chef business. I love sports, cooking, reading & anything water related! I went to the library website & reserved all the books listed for the group reads so hopefully they come in soon & I will get caught up. Thanks for having me!

message 36: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Welcome, Becky! I hope you enjoy your time here.

I am also a huge sports fan and am so happy baseball season is here again.

HI Becky. Welcome to the group and good luck with your personal chef business!
I used to be a full time professional and gave it all up when I had my son to run my own business. It's definitely scary but I wouldn't go back for anything :-)

St. Louis Cardinals (graduated high school there) and Washington Nationals (my current "home" team)

message 41: by Becky (new)

Becky I've been wanting to take a road trip to st louis. You'll have to give me some pointers when the time comes!

message 42: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Cleveland to St. Louis is a decent trip. I will be glad to give some pointers (although they may be a little out of date). :)

message 43: by Becky (new)

Becky I'm thinking Mapquest said 7 hours. My son is trying to talk me into the beach first though lol

message 44: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Sounds about right. My grandparents lived outside Cleveland when I lived in St. Louis and we made the trip a few times (many years ago).

From Cleveland, which beach would you most easily visit? Jersey shore?

message 45: by Becky (new)

Becky I'm not sure. Jersey or delaware. Where in Cleveland your grandparents live? I'm in the suburbs too

message 46: by Kate S (new)

Kate S Delaware's pretty. Jersey beaches have a lot of activities if you can find a time they are not too busy.

My grandparents lived in Tallmadge. Tiny little town right near Akron. They live in Southwest PA now. I still have an uncle in the Shaker Heights area.

message 47: by Becky (new)

Becky OK i know where Tallmedge is & my last boyfriend lives in shaker.

message 48: by Cody (new)

Cody Endres Hey everyone. My name is Cody - I'm 28, married, and live in Wisconsin. Currently I'm working an overnight position at a group home for troubled youth so I find myself with a lot of free time. I'm starting to grow tired of Netflix so I started searching for an online book club and found a whole batch of them right here on Goodreads!

In elementary and middle school I was an avid reader mainly due to RL Stine's Goosebumps series. Somewhere after a John Steinbeck binge in my high-school years I stopped reading for recreation. College was stressful and I was taking care of my mom so reading was put on the back-burner so to speak. Anyways, I'm eager to dive into some old classics and new selections!
