Thought we could let each other know about any special offers we come across.

Virago and Canongate Books are both 40 this year, and both have issued free e-books to celebrate.
Just search amazon for Canongate/Virago at 40.

Hilary | 2082 comments I just thought mention a company called The Book People in case people haven't come across them. They do mail order and they are online and sell bargain books. Some of their book sets are very good value. I've just got the most recent brochure in the post and it has 8 books by Douglas Adams for £8.99, 3 by Iain Banks for £4.99 and 10 by Robert Ludlum for £9.99 among others. I've bought from them several times and been very happy with the books and the service.

Thanks Hilary, definitely sounds worth investigating

Just had a quick look and if anyone is still after Daphne du Maurier books, The Book People are doing 5 of her books for £4.99!!!

The Making of a Marchioness by Frances Hodgson Burnett is on Kindle for 76p - it's an atypical, unsentimental, funny love story - I insist you buy it immediately!
The sequel is quite good too but a little (well a lot) on the melodramatic side.

Hilary | 2082 comments Everyone has probably come across this site but as a newcomer to "apps" and such I was amazed by it. It's called Free Books and I found it via my iPad, if that makes any difference. A vast variety of classic and modern books all for free although I haven't checked how well they have digitised.

Hilary | 2082 comments Just got my flyer from the Book people! they have the whole of the booker short list for £30. I haven't checked the individual prices on Amazon but I would think they're more that a fiver each.

Hilary | 2082 comments I've done a quick check and burying the kindle editions you save about £13 on all six.

Hilary | 2082 comments But of course if you bury them you won't be able to read them. This autocorrect makes me hilariously furious if you know what I mean.

It certainly wouldn't do your kindle any good! Thanks Hilary- that's definitely worth an investigation.

Tracey | 304 comments I can, however, think of some books I'd like to bury!

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I think Hilary would like to entomb Mason & Dixon!
