Jim Beckmann I am trying to recall the name of a book I read and enjoyed a long time ago. Set in the near future, maybe 2020ish. The US is at war in southern Mexico in a conflict similar to Vietnam. Insect drones are used to hunt insurgents. The country is experiencing mass anti-war protest with bands of anarchists dressed as clowns rioting. This is the setting for a detective story. Anyone remember this book?

It doesn't sound familiar to me. It does however sound quite exciting!

Jim Beckmann I found it! "End Time- notes on the apocalypse" by G.A. Martiasz Published in 1996 and set in 2007. Apparently my memory of 1996 is as bad as my memory of 1986. Now I have to find this book and re-read it. I hope at least my memory that it was good was correct.

Jim Beckmann I just learned something else about this book. Went to buy it on line as it was not available through my local libraries. Got a first edition trade paperback, London 1994, for $4.00 .
