Sagine I read the first two books and I'm not sure if I should read this one. I keep hearing disturbing things about the end about how there was no true closure and how there really should be a forth book. Is this true? Seriously, I'm not afraid of Spoilers. Are Alex and Tom reunited in the end? Or does she end up with Chris?

K. Since you indicated you aren't afraid of spoilers, I am going to go ahead and post my review that addresses all your questions and comments. I will be curious to know if you go ahead and read the book after what I wrote....

Tina J I really liked it.
It's true that you kinda have to make your own mind up about the ending, but I personally don't think there 'needs' to be a 4th book.
The love triangle seems to be more of a love SQUARE....if you get my drift. lol

I think you should read it, especially if you've read the 1st two.

Tessa From the 3, this is probably the most disturbing book of them all. You ain't read survival books untill you tired this one. Also, the way this author tourtures all her characters is a little sick. How are their bodies not shutting down already: first she drowns them, then covers them in snow, then starved them...
Really, it's like this book's idea is: how to invent new shocking ways to torture my characters. Not sure if I'm enjoying this or not...

Yvonne I really like Ashes. I thought Shadows was ok, but Monsters was painful!!!!! 3/4 of the way through the book, you still have an entire book left to tread, and you are exhausted from being thrown from "one bloody, no way you can survive unless you are in a book" battle to another. I didn't feel like there was any real character/story development in the first 3/4 of the book. It was just fight, fight, fight. I had to finish it because that's just how I am, but I was grumbling every page!

Rebecca Hunte See, I completely fell in love with Ashes, but I think that she could have ended it without Monsters. She definitely could have ended it, had she added just a bit more to Ashes and Shadows. I honestly didn't like this book very much, because of all the drama and how drastically Alex changed from the first book, to the second, to the third. She was honestly barely recognizable. I felt as if the ending was kind of weird and could have ended with something a lot more meaningful. I just.....if you really like Ilsa J. Bick, just go read White Space instead. Really good, and the next book comes out next March //I'm guesstimating here so don't hurt me if I'm wrong.//.

Caitlin I would have to say read it if you wish to. I absolutely loved Ashes once I picked it up...Shadows was very confusing to me (however I fell in love with Chris). And Monsters was worth reading but not one of the best (Watch out for the parts in Peter's perspective throughout the book {very graphic}). But I would definitely read it if I were you. (I still have a bad feeling about Tom btw).
