Some of us have Read The Sound of the Waves and others are just beginning it. There is some interest in discussing this book.
In general, I found this book delightful. It was full of beautiful imagery. It was very short and a good introduction to Mishima's work. His poetic writing style is what drew me in and made me want to read more of his books.
Some of my favorite parts of the book were the simple descriptive scenes describing the women diving for pearls. They are naked and yet it seems very natural.
I loved watching the romance develop between the two young people. The self-conscious part where they first meet in the cave is priceless to me.
The last part about all the competition on the navy ship and the scheming of the two rival young men was an interesting part of the plot.
