I'm reading Slan. Although it is science-fiction I think it might qualify as a dystopian novel as well. The society is ruled by one person and there are persecutions on the slans [engineered humans with telepathic abilities]

Anton (antontroia) | 24 comments Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

It's turning out to be very boring. I feel like skipping to the end, but I don't want to miss important plot points.

I think it is one book that was written for young boys. The rest books from the series are more for grownups and might appeal more to you. I started the second one, but that was few years back and I was reading on my laptop so I abandoned it but the rest of the series IS on my tbr list.

But I did like Ender's Game, I also listened to the 20th anniversary edition which is a narrated by a full cast and includes bonus of 1 hour long interesting "interview" from the author, who also narrates in the audiobook.

I started A Fire Upon the Deep, and it seems very complex and full of aliens an d a lot of info. I'm reading a notated edition of the book. Never had read one, so I can see the author notes.

It's not a dystopian, but a science fiction novel, part of trilogy. The novel has won Hugo and Campbell for best novel and a nominee for Nebula.
Average Rating: 4.12 from 19,540 ratings and all the reviews convinced me to give it a try.

I've read the firs few chapters and as this a long book, probably will take some time to set them up and develop them.

I recently finished Shift, and I LOVED it!

Right now reading Countdown by Michelle Rowen and its just sort of meh for me. THe world building needs more work, and its a case of instant love, which I hate. The characters are good, though!

I've heard Oryx and Crake is good but I always put off reading series. I feel if I start them I have to finish them, but what if I don't like it?

I noticed that book impressed a lot of people. I hope I'm not disappointed. I'm not a fan of YA books, I usually find them week in their world building and ... well everything. Good ideas not very well executed.

I can't get enough of Hugh Howey.
Proof that self-publishing is a wonderful thing, and taking the chance on unproven new authors is worth the chance that before you find a new favorite, you might be burdened with reading a couple sub-par stories.

I am still to read Dust, have been putting it on for a long time, but I know if I finish it, that will be it. I don't want to start, because the end will come ;(

Well then I shall start his other books.

I recently finished The Road, The Speed of Dark and The Dark Age: a short story, not in that order. All wonderful literary works.

Started recently the audio version of Oryx and Crake.

I just finished Wool and I'm about 200 pages into Shift. I love his writing style. Wool was such a great read. The world he's created feels real and definitely plausible. A big thumbs up so far.

I love the series. STILL haven't read the last one. I'm postponing. For me those books were very emotional read.

message 38: by Sarah D (new)

Sarah D (sdamian11) I just started reading Zero Hour - A Dystopian Adventure by Jordan Castillo Price and am really enjoying it. The world-building is great, with the reader experiencing the so-eerily-realistic-it's-funny techno-future as you go. Has anyone else read this or other works by Jordan Castillo Price?

This last one is proving to keep me on edge. I can't get enough of this series. I feel I'll probably have a book hangover/withdrawals soon.

I am just about to start the third book (just about for a couple of months but I hope to). I don't want to forget who was who and it is quite a good series. Have you read the Shift Omnibus yet?

I decided to start Reefsong and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

Lorena Huilén | 1 comments I started reading Requiem by Lauren Oliver (the third book of Delirium trilogy). I don't know what to think about the whole saga yet. I just want not to get disappointed but I'm afraid it seems like the ending is not very good. Anyway I can't stop reading. I really liked Pandemonium (Delirium #2).
