Glad you're enjoying it - sorry about the late night though :0) Even though I've read it loads of times before (not for a couple of years though) -I'm finding it hard to put down too. I'm on p285 now - and have paused for a while just because I don't want it to end too soon.

I loved all the characters. They were very straightforward and easily identified as a goody or a baddy and I have to say I loved the baddies almost as much as the goodies.
It did make me want to refresh my memory about the Pendle witches to check the known facts against the novel. There was one part almost at the end that did intrigue me and I thought something very unexpected was going to happen. (view spoiler) The ending was as expected (view spoiler) and that felt as it should be.
I have sadly come to the end of Mist Over Pendle - I wish it was longer. As Hilary says it's a wonderfully old fashioned page turner, with oodles of atmosphere, great characters and a thrilling (sometimes chilling) plot.
I fell for Margery as soon as I met her and was equally smitten with Roger on his introduction. At that point I was immediately swept away by the excitement of the story. I've read this book many times and there are scenes I look forward to all the way through - I'm definitely biased but I can't find anything not to like about it.

Yay! I hope it doesn't make you stay up all night like Hilary:0)

I was just thinking that it would be great if we could form our own intergroup lending library - if only there was a way to lend kindle books.

Aww thank you for your kind offer Hilary - I did actually put a request in for it when I realised someone else had got there before me so it should be coming soon, although if it doesn't I will certainly be in touch - thanks :)

There is a new app (or something) coming out I think which will enable sharing of ebooks between members - I can't remember where I read about it but if I find it again I will post the link.

I can't find it I'm afraid (Amazon's team of digital flying monkeys has probably removed all trace of it) but if I come across it accidentally again will post it straightaway!

As an aside, I ordered my copy from the library and inside on the date stamp sheet it says 'return to county store'. Why on earth not put it on a shelf?
I agree that you do need to suspend disbelief a little. I'm not sure how far Mr Neil was constrained in his plotting by the actual events in Pendle-google time :0)
Well it's a dark and miserable night (I want to say stormy but that would be stretching the truth a little) and I'm curled up with a mug of tea, a handful of chocolate digestives and my copy of Mist Over Pendle. These dark nights are perfect for stuff like this! Enjoying it so far, it's a good story.
You're making me very jealous - I'm just off to clean the bathroom!
I finished this yesterday, enjoyed it although not what I was expecting (thought it could have done with been scarier as it was more of a historical mystery). That said, it was good fun if you didn't take it seriously.
