So over at Booklikes there's a big number over your shelves - has anyone figured out what exactly its counting? I know that whatever it is it's not exactly sync'd up completely with my books because mine currently says 263 books and I have on Booklikes Read shelf 705, and 172 Reviewed.

I'm assuming that the number in big ol' font size just hasn't yet caught up with the imported content. But I'm also curious about what it's supposed to be counting, and haven't seen it mentioned in the FAQ.

Anyone figure this out yet?

I think when you're importing there can be a delay between the "big" number and the one on your Read shelf. I think.

Yes, that's what it looks like to me as well.

From what I've seen the big number gets there first then they import the books then the reviews follow. After three days I think I'm finally up to speed over there with reviews. Syncing messed up my shelves here though so I shut it off.

So the theory is that - when the data aligns, the servers love us and our new data, and all is well with the world - that's going to be my number of books read? Maybe?

That actually would make sense - as that number is linked directly with a user's shelves page.

My big book number has been stuck at 890 for almost 3 days now. My shelves show 1990 read and more on my other to read shelf. I sent an email to customer service this morning and hope for some clarification soon.

Goodreads book import results:
3259 - total number of books,
3259 - imported with reviews (if added),
0 - imported on your shelf - import of reviews is in progress,
0 - not recognized / removed,
0 - left.

I posted this in another thread on this group, then saw this thread. So I'll repost it here:

I noticed something this morning that I thought I'd pass along. Hopefully it will help everyone waiting on their imports/reviews to come through.

I'm still waiting on 46 books to import, but my "imported with reviews (if added) stat jumped *way* up over night and when I was looking over the imported book list (in the settings/import/import page), the column "With Review?" either says 'yes', 'no' or 'yes (see review)'. The 'yes (see review)' didn't show up on my list until this morning, but those books did say just 'yes' before.

So I'm thinking the 'yes (see review)' flag is a quick indicator to let you know which reviews have imported vs. the books that have reviews that haven't imported yet.

Does ANY of that make sense????

I got a reply from Kate at customer service about the big book icon. She says:

Sorry for this confusion. Your import is already finished and all your books are on your Shelf.
We'll update the total number of books soon.

I began importing my stock of books to GL about 2 days ago. Here are the present data concerning my status there:

Your import page

Import of your book and reviews is in progress.
We're working hard on your imports. Your data will be imported gradually: first books, shelves and then reviews.

Importing can take a while, especially if your book collection is quite big. You can check details and manage your imported books below.

Goodreads book import progress:
5309 - total number of books,
5208 - imported with reviews (if added),
0 - imported on your shelf - import of reviews is in progress,
0 - not recognized / removed,
101 - left.
Estimated time left: 16 hours

(To date, here in GR I have 5,329 books.)
