The Autobiography of Malcolm X

confusion with editions

The Autobiography of Malcolm X is by Alex Haley. A series of editions and printings to be 'consistent' with the term of Autobiography listed just Malcolm or w/Haley or some variation. Most of this came about resulting from Malcolm's death prior to publication.
The later or revised version contain afterword's and additional material from Haley that do change the overall tone of the work.
Should you wish to throw a large wrench in the works read the exhaustive and thorough commentary about Malcolm from Manning Marable author of Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention.
There are two or more schools of thought about Malcolm, his life, his legacies and even his legend. Quite divergent and to the extent of academics openly challenging the work of the other as near fiction.
Thus get the 'right' version for class that your prof wants. Meanwhile start reading one or more the works you can access.

I need to read this book for a class, the professor said we need to read "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" by Alex Haley, I found this one in my library and it says "The Autobiography of Malcolm X" by Malcolm X.
I asked, and he says it's different. I don't find any book that can fit what he's asking for. I see that this one is co-authored by Alex Haley, and in some places I see that they call this book "The Autobiography of Malcolm X, as told to Alex Haley"...
Are all the books the same just different editions? I'm going to try to get a copy to show my professor, but they are all unavailable right now, so I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me solve this doubt.
Thank you.
