Ken B | 6810 comments I got started on this one last night and made it about 2/3 the way through it. I'll have to say that this one just isn't doing it for me.

(view spoiler)

I will hopefully be wrapping this one up today.

Tim Bedair | 109 comments I have made it to about 35% mark its not what I thought do far I really like the characters but not sure how i'm gonna feel overall yet I think the characters tooth and Rodger actually remind me of myself and a friend I grew up with maybe that's what's doing it for me so far ill give you more feed back when I get deeper into it

Ken B | 6810 comments My review:

The Summer I Died is just straight out slasher/gore/splatter, call it what you will. I often see this book compared to The Girl Next Door. But, it is lacking the more subtle psychological torture that "The Girl Next Door" has and is overdosing in brutal physical torture. As such, I don't think it has the long-term punch that "The Girl Next Door" packed.

I prefer my horror to scare me, not try to gross me out or shock me. The shock factor wears off fast in this type of novel and quickly becomes tiresome.

3 STARS

Tim Bedair | 109 comments I can agree with you on that I do enjoy the torture/, gore but I, also like to be scared so I completely see where you could grow tired. Its actually been a while since I read a really decent "scary" book Any suggestions i'm usually into the "splatterpunk" or extereme" horror also thrillers like Blake crouch and jack kilborn
