I'm going to try to finish a book or 2 before I start this one

I'll probably start tomorrow tho. at least it's short :D

It's totally fine. I only read a few pages so far so hopefully will read some more today. I may have to skip out on this one tomorrow but Tuesday I have a day off so I will most definitely catch up then! :D

and this book is tough

Jon isn't a very good person. I agree with what his mom said (view spoiler)[ They babied him, they always did. And that meant he had this idea of entitlement and it's made him a pretty ugly person. (hide spoiler)]

Grubs vs Clavers (view spoiler)[ Jeez, I cringe EVERY TIME they say Grubs. and to burn down a school? and be surrounded by people who are so cruel? (hide spoiler)] but I can totally see it! We are NOT a (view spoiler)[ society that believes we go with less so others can have some too... we tend to want more more more and be too scared to share or we might have less. It's sad (hide spoiler)]

I hope it looks a little brighter from here. So far it's pretty sad :(

OMG and Jon and (view spoiler)[ Julie. What he did to her. Why she ran. Horrible and HORRIFIC. I can't believe he did that. I cannot believe rape is so common place in this new society (hide spoiler)]

and why (view spoiler)[ are none of the Claver women pregnant? Is that something to do with the vitamins?? (hide spoiler)]

Finally, I like that we were told (view spoiler)[ that Alex left for a little while. That had to be when Miranda told him what she did to/for Julie. I'm glad we know he knows, without having to go through it with them. (hide spoiler)]

I feel so bad! School is getting really hectic and I have NO time to read! :( Also, we just started a novel in class so I have to focus on that one. Hopefully I can catch up soon because I hate to leave you hanging!

Okay, Jacquelyn, I have to be honest about this book.

I don't know if you want to read it. The reviews are all complaining about the same thing that I didn't like

Jon is NOT a good person. he does HORRIBLE HORRIBLE things in this book.

and, even at the end, I don't think he was a good person.

I wish I hadn't read this one because I don't want to believe this is who Jon will become....just because they gave him some extra meals when they were starving......

but it's up to you. but if you have other books that need your attention right now. I don't know that I'd finish this one.

how far are you?

I am so sorry you didn't read it. You know how I said the author was originally going to stop at 3 and then surprised everyone by coming out with book 4? It seems like she should of stopped when she was going to originally.

I am only 30 pages in but if you didn't like it and he does horrible things in this book I don't want to continue...

There are many other books I could be reading so I am not going to read this one, not now or probably ever.

Since I am not going to read it, what horrible things did he do in this book? I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy it at all! :(

well..

we find out that Julie was actually running from him when she went into the storm

because he tried to rape her.
and he seems to know on some level that what he did was bad

BUT then he does it again!! to another girl he's dating. and he does it as a way to, somehow, confess what he's done AND try to make her stay away

but he doesn't seem to realize what he's done is wrong

he's used lots of girls because he's this big important special guy....

he's selfish and horrible. he helps torch a school, beat up a homeless guy....he's mean to his mom and tries to plot killing Miranda until he comes to his senses and doesn't do it.

he's just...he's cruel to the workers in his house. He almost hits one of the girls but a little Gabe (Lisa and his dad's baby) stops him.

he's just awful :(

at the end, when he supposed to be better.
He STILL threatens a girl telling her she will burn in hell forever if she doesn't listen to him because he's her husband and she must obey

He's supposed to be saying it because he's trying to protect her...but he's just...awful :(

That is crazy! I am definitely not going to read it. Like why make him appear so bad and leave it like that? That must of been hard to read!

What made you give it 2 stars, instead of 1?

I still really like the mom in this one.

oh,and Alex and Miranda have a baby girl :)

and....his mom is killed while defending the children in her high school (where she teaches) She's beaten and then hung from a tree by a belt and then she's shot...
ugh, awful.
I gave it two just for the mom. she was still incredible in this one. great to everyone.
