Consequences (Consequences, #1) Consequences question

Should I read the Consequences series?

Hi,

I'm thinking about starting this series, only, I am afraid that I will end up hating Tony... I have nothing against dark romance, as long as the character's motivation makes sense, or that he redeems himself in some way (I'm not asking for prince charming - just something that makes Tony's love real). I have read that Tony rapes Clair, and although I think it is wrong, I think I could still like the book despite that as long as he does nothing else WITH THE PURPOSE of hurting her (emotionally or physically).
For example, for those who have read the Dark Duet duo, in Seduced in the dark, Caleb sleeps with another woman in front of Olivia, and that just totally disgusted me. Does Tony do anything similar?

Thank you!

Absolutely read it! You'll hate Tony, but you'll also be shocked when you fall in love with him at the same time in book two and three.
There is no erotica though. No descriptive sex. It's fairly vague in that respect. So I wouldn't classify it as a romance one bit. Romig's writing is a genre of its own, I think.
To be honest, I was going to give up with the series as I neared the end of the first book, but then when the end came, I was determined to finish out the series. Book two and three were incredible :)

I did not consider this a romance AT ALL. Did I love it?? Not really and wish people didnt compare it to the Dark Duet series....they are so, so different. I figured out a lot of the twists before they happened-so I wasnt blown away except until the last book. Everything negative that Tony does to Claire is not spelled out-so it's left to your imagination. You know he does bad things but you dont know HOW bad. It is super wordy and it takes a lot of time to get the plot moving. I did not think it was overly dark or offensive in any way. That said, I DO think that some would say that Tony redeemed himself. But I can only ask, Can a leopard really change his spots?

yes i agree read these books. i am on the second one and cant put them down talk about mind f...k. i hate tony then i like him much like claire. wish the sex scenes were a bit more. but then its not really an erotic book?

I read the first book a week ago and I can't get it out of my head. Not sure if I should read the next one or not. It seriously was a mind f*ck!

Absolutely loved books 1 and 2. Book 3 will be read in the next few days.

Hope you like it as much as I did.

I loved this series.. You absolutely should read it.. It's one of the best I've read.. I would say it is my #2 right after The Dark Duet.

YES, you should read it. it's a very good trilogy. the author never intended the book to be in the romance genre. She actually felt it should be considered a Psychological Thriller (but she didn't have much say in the matter) and it truly is a psychological thriller. There are lots of twists and turns in the book and it's absolutely amazing. I didn't want to read it at first because friends of mine that read it just kept saying it was extremely dark. Yes book 1 is very dark. Tony is extremely mean to Claire. But the author does not give gory details about what he does. She gives just enough description for you to use your own imagination. You'll find yourself hating Tony. But by the time you get to book 3 you will be Team Tony all the way.

I thought this was a great series. You will love it and you will hate it. It kept me thinking about it long after I finished, a true book hangover! Give it a try. I put it off for a long time because it didn't seem like my cup of tea, but it turned out that it was! Ms. Romig handled difficult scenes gracefully.

Don't bother. The writing is so terrible it was extremely difficult for me to not put it down after 3 pages. I'm not usually picky about writing but it's so goddamn awful it's simply unacceptable. I don't know how the writer was not embarrassed by having people read this. And I don't know how it got A SINGLE 5 star review.

I Hated book 1, Tony the dickhead, moron and the list can go on… but then I read book 2 and started to like him and book 3 OH MY GOSH, the best of all of it…. LOVE IT!!!!! You got to read it!!!! Now I went back to read behind his eyes consequences and hated him all over again, reading the insecure and F*cked up Tony….

i Know i am to late and Marry Christmas i read Captive in the dark but havent read Seduced in the dark but for those who say that Conequences are werse because the H rapes and beats the h up yet loves Dark Duet hello mind you i havent read Conequences and dont know what the hero does there But CaLeb in duet was no angel he Spoiler belted, sodomozed chocked, tide up for hours Livvie not to mention all the hamuliation and im not even talking abought him draging her and getting aroused by her saffering and im shore he did it to other girls to o no Caleb wasnt that great to Livvie i think ill read Conequences though i dont know how you can be more twisted than Caleb and revenge didnt even have anything with her

This is a tough question for me because I really LOVED the first two books but the first chapter in the third book totally broke my heart and I was left bitter and disillusioned by it all. I tried to continued but then asked for some advice from other readers who were also disappointed and they said given the same opportunity again they would NOT read the third book. I didn't pick up and read anymore, the series was ruined for me. Such a shame because the author is very talented and I would consider reading more of her future novels.

ive read the dark duet series and loved them! i have read consequences and will not be continuing the series. i hated it with a passion and struggled to finish it. would not recommend it

Brandy Most excellent read - all of them; You either love to hate Tony or hate to love him, but you have to read them all to understand everything

I think you have to be in the right mind set to read this series. This book definitely takes a break from my rainbow and unicorn romances. I am on the the third book right now and I have really enjoyed this series. There are so many plots and twists I just gave up trying to figure it out and enjoyed the roller-coaster ride. And I can't believe I went from hating Tony to now wanting them to be together 4-eva!!!

Yes if u want to read a really long drama filled story... no if ur expecting a dark romance series... there is no violence or sex... it is mentioned not described... so look u choose!

Short answer: Read it.

Long answer: I thought the first book in this series was twisted, disturbing and a comeplete mind f*** and for that reason I think it's frather brilliant.

This isn't a romance story, the author never intended it to be. If anything I'd categorise it as psychological mystery although it's pretty hard to pin down. The mystery really starts to unravel during book two and if you can make it that far, it's worth it I promise. The story is intricate and dark and very well thought out.

In terms of whether or not Tony actually intends to cause harm to the main character, the simple answer is yes. However if you can power on past this you get to learn his motives. Surprisingly enough they acually make his character somewhat redeemable, although I'm not saying his actins are excusable, you at least understand the reasoning behind his actions and why they leave him conflicted.

For most of this book I was convinced I was reading a twisted tale of abuse. However, if you stick it through to the end, the mystery begins to unravel and you begin to see the story in a whole new light, or at least I did.

Absolutely, without a doubt, you should read this series. Don't give up after book 1 either, the plot thickens, and it will take you on an unbelievable, nail biting roller coaster ride of love and hate, trust and betrayal, torment and need... but in the end, doesn't love always conquer all? Or does it? You must read to find out; you won't be disappointed!

And for those that loved this series...I recommend the book Tears of Tess.

The first one made me want to read the second one. It had the potential to be an intriguing series.

The second one made me want to burn my Kindle. If I could give it a negative star rating, I would.

No interest in reading the third, I deleted the first two from my Kindle and wish I could forget reading them now.

This series seriously messed with my head... I hated Tony and then I found myself sympathizing right along with Claire for him...

It will really test your ability to really forgive...

The series was really great but certainly not something for someone who needs a light fluffy story and everything all tied up in a nice neat bow in the end...

I absolutely did enjoy the series though.. worth the risk to read.

PLEASE READ THIS BOOKKK YOU WILL LOVE IT!!

YES!!!! I don't think I have ever been as emotionally involved in a book before this one.

You won't go wrong in this one honey. Trust us. Join the dark side! Kidding. :)

YES, YES, YES

I think just because it's written pretty well.

Read them one right after the other - it's better that way.

Definitely worth the read! I agree completely with Shelby when she said this will be unlike anything you have read before. It is sick, twisted and totally addictive. Aleatha has written an amazingly original series. Anyone who stops after book one is really getting only a small snippet of who Tony is and what his motivation is but more importantly, they completely miss out on who he becomes. I hope you give this series a try and enjoy it.

Absolutely - it is seriously addictive. I will miss my Tony-fix!

Honestly, I read the first one and it was sooo good. Tony is a dick. A huge dick! Not only does he rape Clair, he beats her to the point where she's asleep for like a week (I think it was a week). I hated him, I really did.

This book to me, wasn't really a romance. And yes Tony does something at the end of the book that's going to leave you like WTF?! Don't want to spoil the book for you so I won't say what he does. HEHE

With the Dark Duet books, Caleb cares about Livi. You can tell he does, which is why it's not too hard to like him even though he's done horrible things.

Tony...ugh, I hate him. I havn't been able to finish the other Consequences books because I can't stand him! Seriously!

Read it-it will be nothing like you have read before!

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You should absolutely read this book! But I don't feel like it is a romance at all. The dark duet was erotica/fun. This book is a mind f*ck/mystery/emotional roller coaster. Aleatha Romig's writing is brilliant and that is why you should read this.
