Ladyamelia | 173 comments Attention Sienna Mynx fans!

I'm not sure if you all frequent her website but recently she's been posting vlogs to answer fan questions and give writing updates. Yesterday she actually posted a video response to one of my questions about "La Famiglia," which is the next book in the Battaglia series. It's fun to watch - you all should check it out! The link is below:

Vanae | 163 comments Thank you ! I have looking for an update on this series. Girl I can't wait, and I pray this wraps up the series because I hate TBC's. This book almost had me planning a trip to Italy....smile.

Anino (anino) Does anyone know when "Oz" will be released? It's already July, and still, there's no sign of it being published anytime soon... (~sigh~)

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments You know, usually a huge fan of her covers, but this one isn't doing anything for me. This one doesn't seem as expensive. I always love that I can put S.M. production value (covers, editing, etc) against any other romance in my collection, traditionally published or not. She earns all her stars from me, not needing the extra one's sometimes spotted just for being IR.

By the way, just noticed her site was down for construction. Do you think that might be holding up getting this book out?

message 8: by Erica (new)

Erica (makewishdreambig) | 50 comments I went on her site last month. She just been super busy with family, her new job and updating the website. I think in her vlog post , that I don't remember word for word. she mentioned it had something to do with the revamp website. As to why Oz hasn't came out yet.

Paganalexandria | 4065 comments Just finished my re-read of Amore (Battaglia Mafia #5) by Sienna Mynx . I originally gave it a high rating, but was able to appreciate the character development in this series on a different level. I've been DNFing back-to-back books in various genres because of "dumb" things stopping me in tracks. It made me appreciate even more Sienna Mynx's talent for making care about characters even when breaking bad. Her heroines often do things, I've ranted passionately against when found in other books. She makes you understand their motivations.

Monica **can't read fast enough** (wwwgoodreadscomuser_monlat) | 895 comments @Paganalexandria the Battaglia series is one of my favorite romance series too. She is supposed to release 3-4 books this month so there'll be plenty of Mynx books to pick up!

Hi Pagan:

I own all the previously released books but I haven't started this series yet. Is this the final book in the series? Thanks.

Never mind. I read the Foreword in the sample, there are two more books to come. Happy Reading to All!☺

LOL It being her biggest hit, starting to think it will never end. Suspect we will get second generation spinoff or something since it begins in the 90's. lol

Kolby she is hands down my favorite IR writer. I liked her earlier stuff, but she has really come into her own with the Battaglia Mafia Series. It has become my favorite mafia series period, not just my favorite IR. I love Bethany-Kris, and London Miller, but especially the deeper you go in the series, Sienna is killing them in terms of character development. I only wish others outside our book bubble would give them a chance.

Kolby (kolbyirish) | 20 comments Well, the reason I've been so hesitant because I thought back in the day I read a blurb about the series' heroines, and for some reason they came off too 'urban' for me. I'm saying it in the nicest way possible. I'm mean nothing wrong with being a street wise lady, but dang. Now, if I'm wrong about that lease correct me.

Their several female characters in it. The heroine Mirabella isn't remotely "urban". She is a very sophisticated fashion designer. She does have a country backstory, but her extended relatives consider her super bougie, Now there are other women in her life the further you go into the series with more of a street background. There are also things you don't often get too, like a Nigerian heroine in one of the novellas. There are so many realistic versions of black womanhood in this series, and all seem to be well represented without degrading any of the facets.

I do think Ms.Mynx' stories are well crafted and well written. Strangely enough, I just don't seem to be able to get into them and I can't put my finger on why. The only one of the Battaglia series that I liked was the one with the Nigerian heroine.

message 40: by sjoyce (new)

sjoyce | 6 comments Which Battaglia book had a Nigerian heroine? I still haven't read the last two. Even though I've purchased La Dolce Vita and Bella Mafia, I haven't been able to get into them. If one of them has the Nigerian heroine perhaps that would be the spark I need to read them. I loved the other books. Will eventually read those two before another one is released, probably in October or November.

Rallenti (Battaglia Mafia #4.5) by Sienna Mynx . It was free for awhile so if you're a fan of the deal thread, it might already be in your collection.

message 42: by sjoyce (new)

sjoyce | 6 comments I've read Rallenti, first as part of a series of books, then when it was free. I never thought of it being part of the Battaglia series. I even forgot that Kyra was a Nigerian American. How could I forget that when her parents played such a big part of what happened with her. I just think of her as the shoe lady, even when she and finally Renaldo got together and she started making shoes for Mirabella. Now, if anyone is "urban", it's Kyra and her friend - can't remember the name. I love reading about "urban" people - they remind me of my family and the neighborhood I grew up in. I never realized they were "urban" - that's a new one for me. We're southern "urban" people.

Paganalexandria, I liked the way you put it "realistic versions of black womanhood", "well represented without degrading". Thanks for the reminder. Maybe, I can start on the books I've been putting off reading and even re-read the one where Myra and Renaldo get together.

Kolby (kolbyirish) | 20 comments Hahaha...yeah, there's 'urban' I like and 'urban' I don't like. I'm southern, but far from urban. Currently sitting on my couch, and listening to the heifers go ballistic tonight because it's day one of weaning the calves from them. LULZ! Can't get more country than that!

I've recently had to do some gut checks about hoodtastic things and my reactions to them. How it ties to anti-blackness, and respectability politics on my part. Especially in relation to crime themed reads.
