FWIW, I've noticed a few books showing up as 'read' for me as well. And it's not even an issue of GR deleting any shelves. I know this b/c (1) haven't had any shelves deleted, and (2) the books were never shelved by me--ever. Thus, I'm thinking that GR's data migration is not migrating so well. :/
The iOS app now has recommendations. There is NO opportunity to indicate "not interested". All part of the master plan.

Like the OP, I'm so done with feedback that I left the group completely.
But, thinking it was a glitch with the database migration (and being tech support with hard habits to break), instead of just obliterating I politely let them know in feedback and said I'd leave in place until support/staff either removed for me or said was okay to go ahead and edit. Long, long time and a few bumps later got one of the non answer things they do along and told it was just me. In the meantime other threads popped up from others getting mystery two-star ratings added. I linked.
I then got told to email support (translation in my mind = shut up on the public forums). A lovely endless round of interrogations about stuff members would have no way of knowing (translation in my mind: keep me occupied until I give up) with accusations that it must be the third party api's I'd enabled -- I had linked briefly and then unlinked booklikes because did not want to sync well before they disabled booklikes api and the random ratings had appeared well after goodreads completely disabled booklikes api access.
I was able to spot the ratings mysteriously added (mostly on books that my friends had been slamming with one star ratings) because I never had or made any star ratings purposefully. If I had traveled during team challenges in the past my fat fingers on the cell phone app had made accidental ratings -- I was in the habit of sorting my books by ratings to clear any and all ratings once a week. One thing to one star a book deliberately but no author deserves because I accidentally hit something on the app.
I am absolutely positive the random ratings were made after goodreads shut down booklikes sync. And that in feedback group I was not the only one posting the bug.
Doesn't mean no one should pursue the bug via support or feedback group; just means I've given up on goodreads and will be leaving as soon as I move the last of my notes, reading updates, and backed up reviews over and finish one team challenge.

I'm lucky that I was stalking my own page or I never would've know. Sorry to hear of your inconvenience.

Probably a good idea -- I've heard of a lot of weird adding and deleting lately. A friend had a number of books she knew nothing about added with one-star ratings. I had at least one of those and I felt bad that the author might have seen it or something might have been discouraged from reading it.

And now that I think of it, there were a couple times when a book I added a year ago popped up on my feed for everyone to see as if I'd just added them that day. The date were changed too, though I knew exactly when I added it to my list. I thought it was a marketing scam for that particular book (maybe the sequel was coming out or something). It upset the OCD part of me because I can't edit the date I added it. I know authors can make changes to them as well, but wouldn't that delete the book from your list? It wouldn't re-add it, would it? *sigh*
