Cat. 2 - The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Richard Yancey

I know some have read it, but I own it and have not.

gah! I've been meaning to read that for months.

I own that, but wasn't sure if it was a coming of age. I would certainly join a read of that!

Diana Wynne Jones and the Supremes
:)

Perfect! I'm planning to read it anyhow for the challenge.
Edit: For those looking for ideas, this blog has a nice list of coming-of-age YA books: http://www.chasingray.com/archives/20...

Oh Luann, I'd be sooo curious to see what you think of Messenger when you're done. You can read it as my bookpush if you want! Although you may get more points by reading it for another task.

Thanks! I have it slotted in at 30.1 since it won the Children's Book of the Year Award in Australia. Funny, though, the other book I already read for that task was one of your pushes as well - Anansi Boys which won an Alex award in 2006. :)

The theme for this month is 'coming of age' which will be our Category 2.
Please vote for one book, in one category only.
am I missing something? what is catergory1 ?

LOL LOL LOL I am so confused today, I really messed up scrabbe in the next best book book club
still waiting to see if I unmessed up that mess

Becky, I was thining of nominating The Book Thief, glad you did. I liked it better than I Am The Messenger (though that was good too).

Seems like Fiona might be another holdout...
You two should read it. It's my very, very, very favorite book!

It really doesn't matter which one. His books are gems.
And - he's coming out with a new one sometime soon! Hee hee!!!
I read Book Thief a year or 2 ago, but if he came to chat with us I would def reread it just to be able to chat with him. I had borrowed it from the library and then after I read it, I ran right out and bought it, it's amazing!

Laura, that would be amazing!

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
if so
Paper Towns by John Green

I bought this and read the first bit of it and then put it down and didn't pick it up again for some reason. It's high time!

*begins singing eeny meeny miney moe*

I really want to read that and the books Becky mentioned. I'm going to have to think about this! Tough poll!
