Who came to Milton in hiding?

Henry Lennox, to hide from someone who hated him for failing in a court case.

What event did John Thornton cover up for Margaret?

An unfortunate incident involving plum pudding and a dead rat.

Why were the workers going to strike?

(ahahaha Kate!)

Because Thornton wanted to give them a massive pay rise - they could not agree to that now could they?!

Why did Thornton's mill go out of business?

Because Thornton abandoned it after he decided he wanted to become a sailor.

Lost his ticket back to England after going to Spain for a holiday and couldn't afford to buy another one!

Why did Mrs Thornton unpick her initials from the linen?

Because she was swayed by Fanny Thornton's idea they should keep up with all the latest inventions.

Why didn't Mrs. Thornton like Margaret?

Because she laughed at the thought of marrying her son.

How did Leonards know Frederick?

From summer camp on the gitchiegoomie. They were marshmallow-roasting buddies.

Why did Mr. Thornton propose to Margaret?

Because he'd entered a bet with Higgins, who bet that he'd never propose to Margaret.

What did Margaret bring to the Higgins household the first time she visited?

A nice selection of Tupperware to help them stretch their food dollar - er - shilling.

Who planted the roses at Helstone?

Boucher, who worked as a gardener in Helstone before going up to Milton to work at Marlborough Mills.

Why was Margaret offended when Thornton first proposed to her?

She'd heard Aunt Shaw ran a dog boutique and wanted to buy curling tongs for her Pomeranian.

Edith and her husband moved into the vicarage, Captain Lennox giving up his position in the navy to become a vicar.

Mr Bell worked as a gardener in Helstone originally, and then became wealthy by claiming the reward on Frederick, handing the boy in after the mutiny.

What did Margaret do that meant Thornton had to cover it up for her?

Margaret insulted Mr. Bell's plaid pants.

Why was Margaret friends with Bessie Higgins?

(Lol!) Margaret and Bessie met at a dinner party at the Thornton's and discovered they both liked reading silly romantic novels.

Why did Margaret eventually leave Milton?

She decided she wanted to visit the Alhambra. (Did I spell that right?)

Why did Fanny panic when the workers stormed the mill?

Because she realised she'd left her favourite handkerchief outside and she didn't want the workers dirty shoes to trample all over it. (Yes, I believe you did spell it right! :) )

Why did Mr Thornton want to go and visit Miss Hale after the riots at Marlborough Mills?

He wanted to tell her that the water mattress would be delivered as soon as possible.

Why did Henry Lennox ride on the train with Margaret?

Because she hadn't been able to decide what dress she wanted to wear to meet Thornton, so she'd packed way too many bags to carry by herself.

What did Margaret over-hear the two men gossiping about while she was house-hunting?

The men were saying that Mrs. Thornton was planning on redecorating her drawing room.

How did Margaret meet Bessie Higgins?

(*gasp* :D) They met outside a class of Mr Hale's that Bessie had been attending, while Margaret was waiting for her father.

Why did Dixon find it so hard to hire another servant for the Hales?

Because she wanted to find one who never wore anything but black.

Why did Leonards fall?

Because he and Frederick had a wager - he was trying to show Fred he could balance on a plank of wood on the stair rail and slide all the way down. It didn't work. :P

Why did Mr. Thornton have to cancel his lessons with Mr. Hale for a little while?

Mr. Thornton was busy practicing his proposal to Margaret.

Why did Margaret refuse Mr. Thornton?

Because she'd already promised to marry Leonards.

Why did Mr. Bell go back to South America?

Mrs. Thornton promised that she make sure Frederick and Fanny would be married before Christmas.

Because she was angry at Margaret for getting engaged to Leonards, as Jane had hoped to become Leonards' fiancée.

Where did Mr. Thornton go out walking after the riots?

Because Mrs. Hale insisted that she was sick of the countryside and needed a change of scene.

(*giggles* Lol!) She had quadruplets, and was so busy trying to remember their names she forgot the name of her first.
