Louis | 12 comments i think this book is a classic in entrepreneurship, but i can't for the life of me remember the title or author. it's a short little book written in a casual voice that explains how to go from key employee to small business owner. it uses an example of a woman who is a baker in a bakery, loves baking, and decides to start her own bakery (and how she first mistakenly acts as the main employee, which ends up taking up all her time... just like when she was an employee).

the book recommends developing checklists that detail everything each employee does. one example is of a hotel that takes all your preferences into account during your first stay, and then in every subsequent stay, the newspaper you like (Times, Journal, etc.) is waiting for you each morning, the bed is turned down the way you like, there is a chocolate on the pillow every day, etc.

does anyone know what this book is?

Louis | 12 comments thanks for the guess, but that's not it :(

the book is less flashy- it's a simple, plainly written read, fairly short (maybe 100-150 pages tops), and explains common mistakes that employees make when starting their own business (mainly, thinking that they can either a) delegate without managing, or b) do all the work themselves).
