*Note - This is part of my new "Old Skool Erotica" review series. This book was pubbed in 2001 and it reads almost as cheesy as the cover.

Which do you mean?

Its cause I don't want to pull my full catalog here anymore. In my attempt to keep the data mining to a min, I hardly ever check anything as "read." It goes from "currently reading" to "Collectorz" which lets me know it's already in my BC catalog.

Did yall ever get the tickers to work?"
Nope.

I'm going to do that in my challenge thread here as well. I'm also listing the reads (with completed date) in posts 2 - 5 of my thread, but I realize not everyone may think or want to scroll to the top to see them.

Remind yourself that you have plenty to read. Paying $3 for a book that remains unread is a waste of money. Pay $8 for an ebook that you are going to read this week. You'll pay less in the long run.
Ok... the above paragraph is what I tell myself every time I'm tempted to buy a book that isn't on my wishlist or part of the series that I am currently reading. It's not perfect. I've already bought 4 books, although one is part of a started series.

Remind yourself that you have plenty to read. Paying $3 for a book that remains unread is a waste of money. Pay $8 for an ebook that you are ..."
I'm going to try this, anyway! I'm overloaded with books right now. It's become...a bit much. I never used to have this many unread books but...something about GR and other book social networks inspires book buying and hoarding. I need to cut that down. Waaaay down. I have a mini bookcase mostly full of books I haven't read. It's just...out of control.
I'm hoping the challenges will help and I'm hoping that spending more time with my blog and stuff will encourage reading books I already own.
But baring that...I'm going to ride the local library hard this year. I'm doing all group books that I don't already own via the library this year. All. I'm done with buying them. I have Steelheart here, I skipped two and I own the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. I'm picking up Howl's Moving Castle tomorrow and I have Gardens of the Moon on order via the interlibrary system. I probably won't get that one for about 2-3 weeks.

I say no. To me, having an ereader is like having toilet paper - you just buy it because you need it. :D

Agreed!

"In Good Girl Gone Plaid there are specific reasons why the heroine and hero stayed apart for so long - but in the author's quest to redeem her hero she removed all of the reasons why the couple were apart."
Do you mean that she sets it up like "this happened" and then later it turns out that "this wasn't really what happened"? Or does she give false implications that mislead the reader? Either way, it's still annoying, and I hate the "miscommunication" bullshit.
(I also dislike "reuniting after years" stories but that's neither here nor there.)
A book I recently finished had an "event in history seen by two sides" element but it was handled really well - what she considered the most humiliating moment in her life was also the event that made him realize he wanted to become a police officer and help people.
Your review made me think of something I saw in an online discussion once. An author, who was having trouble with the current book she was working on, said (paraphrase), "I'm having trouble realistically getting my characters over an insurmountable hurdle." The answer? "Don't make the hurdle insurmountable."
Yeah, I'm not sure I was any actual help here. Sorry. :D

What she said!

"In Good Girl Gone Plaid there are specific reasons why the heroine and hero stayed apart for so long - but in ..."
It's like the stupidest thing in the world.
The author set it up so the H/h break up because she caught him cheating. Then (after they reunite) they all find out that the person he was caught cheating with - one of her bff's - had been paid by her DAD to roofie him and make sure she caught them. So HE thinks he did it in a drunken stupor and SHE thinks he did it cause she found them in the bed together.
Of course, the dad is killed off before the book starts so that confrontation never has to happen.
And the cover is so pretty!
