Good follow-up to Pride and Prejudice

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows a good sequence or any book/s related to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice?

I'd say read all of Jane Austen's other books. They're better than any of the P&P sequels.
I am looking forward to reading _Longbourn_ by Jo Baker--a well-reviewed downstairs story of Elizabeth Bennet's home.
I found really interesting and nice book Marsha Altman's The Darcys & the Bingleys: A Tale of Two Gentlemen's Marriages to Two Most Devoted Sisters. It's about what happens after the weddings.
I just read "His Good Opinion" by Nancy Kelley and thought it was really good. It is P&P from Mr. Darcy's POV. It stayed true to the plot of P&P, and had the beautiful language. It made me fall in love with Darcy all over again . . . sigh.
DO NOT waist your reading talent or time on P.D. James' "Death Comes to Pemberly.
You might enjoy Stella Gibbons' Cold Comfort Farm. It's a very funny book about a young independent woman who wants to be writer in the mode of Austen. As part of her "education" for becoming a writer, she selects the most promisingly "messy" of her relatives to go live with. She settles in to tidy up the lives of her grimly gothic cousins, who despite their Brontean isolation and almost feral wildness, are actually wealthy, if eccentric, gentry. It's delicious.
I found a continued book to pride and prejudice. Its called Georgiana Darcy's Diary by Anna Elliott! Happy reading!
I really liked Longbourn, didn't like Death Comes to Pembereley; they're the only two Austen sequel/related books I've read. Can't see myself reading any others. Oh, I did like The Jane Austen Book Club, mainly for the discussions they had regarding the books.

Hi Tatil, I read 40 books last year all relating to Pride and Prejudice you can read my reviews on my blog. The two continuations I read were Mr Darcy takes
a wife by Linda Berdoll and From this day forward by Joana Starnes. The former you need to be prepared, the latter would be an ideal follow up to the 1995 P&P. I am currently reading Sharon lathan's Series which is also a continuation but based on Knightly and Macfadyen in 2005 P&P. Happy reading

I just read Evelina by Fanny Burney which was one of the inspirations for Pride and Prejudice, and I liked it just as much. Apparently Jane Austen really enjoyed Burney's novels, and the title of Pride and Prejudice comes from the ending of her novel Cecilia. I plan to read that one soon.
Shannon Winslow has written several books as a continuation of the Darcy's tale. I really enjoyed them and just wish there were more!
If you look at the reviews of the book Death Comes To Pemberley, you will see it is mainly, rightly in my opinion, regarded as an absolute stinker. Bad as a Jane Austin follow-up/pastiche, and awful as a crime story. Condescending, wooden, and dull. It may well have made a good television series, though, and I will be hoping to enjoy the recording I've made after the New Year.
I recently watched an adaptation of Death Comes to Pemberley which was excellent, I haven't read the P.D James book but if the adaption was anything to go by it should be superb.
Honestly, I can't say I really liked Aidan's Darcy; he was an awful person in the beginning - he even knew that Elizabeth could hear him when he said she wasn't handsome enough to tempt him. And the second book was strange. But it is well written, and on the first read I was so happy to be back in Austen's world that none of it bothered me; it wasn't until I read it again that I began to notice the things I didn't like.
Hello Tatil:
Well, a wild idea. I read "The Guernsey Literary and Potatoe Peel Pie Society" Book, which is a lovely book. It is set in the Guernsey Islands, during and after the Second World War. It is also a very girly book, written by a witty woman writer, from a woman's point of view. In this book, there is a comment refering to "Elizabeth and Darcy" going for a strole in the garden. That comment lead me to read Pride and Prejudice. I am a 64 year old male, so don't usually read women writers. As I understand it, Jane Austen portrays an intelligent woman character, who takes iniative, and relates to men as an equal. The book I mention continues in this tradition.

I really enjoyed Pamela Aidan's trilogy titled 'Fitzwilliam Darcy: Gentleman'. Thought it stayed true to the characters but offered a different perspective and brought in some fun new characters as well. It's all from Darcy's perspective, so it fills in the gaps kind of.
P.D. James' "Death Comes to Pemberly", has been mentioned, it is a rather enjoyable read. In the same vein are Carrie Bebris' "Mrs & Mr Darcy Mysteries"-series.....and of course "Pride, Predjudice and Zombies"' if you care for that sort of thing...
