Em (emmap) | 2707 comments I tend to go with where my mood takes me but I know we've one of two planners amongst us! Does anyone have any reading resolutions or particular titles they're planning to get to in 2014?

I just browsed Kindle Store for a few minutes and appear to have one-clicked Music and Silence by Rose Tremain Music and Silence and
Restoration by Rose Tremain Restoration by Rose Tremain, The Fault in Our Stars by John Green The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt so these ought to feature next year.

Jules | 65 comments I don't tend to plan my reading but I do want to read more German this year, so I'm really going to try to slip one in each month. I also have a lot of classics and non-fiction books that I still haven't read so I though I would set myself a target of one a month too.

message 3: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments I've downgraded my book target to 75, less pressure.

I want to read the Jemisin trilogy that I was going to read in 2012 - The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms.

I'm going to read more Brandon Sanderson because I like the few I've read and he did an excellent job of finishing another author's dream.

Finally, in my book resolution list, I'm going to finish ongoing book series, I never read them separately til I did book of the month.

Lynne - The Book Squirrel (squirrelsend) | 3122 comments I am going to try not to read books I have already read! I have too many faves I listen to when doing my housework or needlework and art, or I can't sleep at night - this must stop!! I have too many books to read for first time!

message 5: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments I don't think I'm going to live long enough to read all mine, someone keeps getting one click...

message 6: by Louise (new)

Louise I'm planning to reserve every book (not in one go) on my Amazon wish list at the library and save myself a fortune.

Great idea! It will keep your library going too. They need all the help they can get these days with all the cut backs.

message 8: by Louise (new)

Louise I'm in there all the time, but bring random books home mostly...which is good, introduced me to authors I'd never have just bought.

Planning to be a bit more random this year but the USA challenge is winking at me in such a lascivious way that I'm sure I won't be able to resist her beguiling charms.

Bill | 2773 comments I've got a few definites planned this year, including a few classics on that list; Parade's End, The Ladies’ Paradise, A Room with a View and Down and Out in Paris and London. Hoping to read 90 books this year.

That's a good one!

I think a lower target is a good idea, I always aim low and then am pleasantly surprised if I over-achieve. I'm setting same target as I have for last two years which is 52.

message 13: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments That's what I thought.

message 14: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarahlou29) My goal for this year is to read 75 books. I reached 109 last year but I'm reading some chunksters this year so thought I'd lower it. I also have my plan all set out here

message 15: by Katie (new)

Katie (--katie--) | 69 comments My goal is to read at least 5 books that are already on my shelf before buying a new one, and to have a month free of buying books in January.

message 16: by Em (new)

Em (emmap) | 2707 comments I've failed at this already, in my defence I was given kindle store gift card from brother in law!

message 17: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments Is there a reason you're plugging this book in every thread?

message 18: by Em (last edited Jan 02, 2014 07:10AM) (new)

Em (emmap) | 2707 comments There is a thread for book promotions which we politely request authors use. I will delete these messages. Thanks.

message 19: by Robyn (new)

Robyn My goal (or, as originally typed, goat, which somehow is even better) is 100 books. I think it's a stretch, but hopefully it won't stress me out too much. I want to make further progress on the challenges, as well, especially the world challenge!

message 20: by Paul (new)

Paul Emmerson Please can I try to finish The Wheel of Time - man O man and I thought my life was complicated. Plus everything Joe Abercrombie has written will be an additional bonus to that.

message 21: by Helen (new)

Helen | 3465 comments I accidentally went in Amazon and the one click button went crazy. I now have about ten new books. So perhaps I should add that I shouldn't buy anything else!

message 22: by Andrew (new)

Andrew | 970 comments I hope to finish my A-Z, I've stalled on E,Q,U,Z,and Y.Carry on round the globe. Carry on with a few first in series crime novels I started in 2013 , and like everyone read some of the pile of TBR books stacked up. Oh and try and read a few more non fiction!

Me too.

message 27: by Angela (new)

Angela (bookangel2) | 706 comments I sort of fell off the wagon last year as far as challenges went - read lots of Indie authors and haven't checked whether I can update any challenges.
So I'm going to start off with checking any challenges I started in 2013. I also want to keep up with the genre challenge this year, which I abandoned half way through the year.
Lots of good reads ahead :)

message 28: by Robert (new)

Robert (bobhe) | 748 comments Just looked at stats for 2013 did not finish 6 books. Good in that as previously decided not to traipse through books not enjoying. But maybe bit more choosy what start
