It's a pretty shot book (51 pages). Do you think that suited the style, or would you have preferred it to be longer?


I'm not sure. The first tale had a bit more to it (which I liked), yet the one I thought worked best was a lot shorter. The original fairy tales are quite simple stories, so there's plenty of scope for experimentation. (The first story I self-published was a light-hearted sci-fi version of Cinderella at about 8,000 words.) Personally, I find writing short stories difficult and I'm deeply in awe of anyone who can pull off a satisfying short read.
I agree with you entirely. I've been trying to write a couple of late and it's much harder than I anticipated.
