Always... I just started my thread for this year so I don't put the new books on last years

a DEPRAVED countess who tortured & murdered 612 girls to bathe in their blood, she was a cousin of Vlad the Impaler. The sub story contained vampires or well people who were hooked on heroin made to THINK they were vampires.

They keep advertising that on here. Not good?

its just OK. the 2 stories just don't mesh well until the very LAST chapters and even then I was left wondering why they were told together. Totally peaked my interest in the Countess & I just purchased biography on her.

this book was ODD. had GREAT potential to be a fantastic horror read but it fell flat. The entire story was good and had me engrossed until the very end. Yes it was about vampires but they seemed to be the supporting cast members and there were SO MANY CHARACTERS it was almost too much. BUT they all tied into the story in such a seamless way I was truly amazed at his writing talent.

ok so this is not a vampire book BUT the inhuman creatures who are eating, killing, raping, terrorizing, kidnapping babies DO have fangs.. SUPER quick read, 118 pages maybe.. it was free and i'm on to the second book now...

Just finished #2, like I said... Quick reads. Seems to be a book that they chopped up for whatever reason to sell as individual "stories"

The novel Savage Species was first published in five instalments every two weeks, with the first part Night Terror for free as a teaser. However, the complete novel Savage Species is also available and sells at a cheaper price then the remaining four parts.

I purchased the novel recently because I read so many praise about it, but then it got pushed aside by other books I wanted to read first. Guess I have to raise it's priority again, but that's definitely a problem with e-books: you can't visibly put them on top of a stack where it nags you all the time.

Btw, the author just published a vampire novel called Dust Devils which sounds great, too.

OH MY GOODNESS where do I start? I LOVED this book. It was horrifying, dark, full of evil vampires who like carnage for no other reason than murder! The story was fast paced and never once did I think oh just get on with it. More than once I wanted to put the book down because I was grossed out but never did =)

You sold it to me, I've got to read it. Sounds right up my street. There just don't seem to be enough books out there about vampires, which show them in the way that I feel is right. The genre is choked with books romanticising vamps,and I'm so fed up with that take on them. It's refreshing to here of another book that uses them for horror rather then sex symbols. so while yes this series is about were's and a shape shifting coyote the baddie was a nasty vamp this time. As usual the store was such a twist that i never even attempt to figure out the plot i just enjoy the ride

That book just came out last month. It's been on my tbr shelf and I've been meaning to go to Barnes&Noble to pick it up (I miss Borders...lol). Glad to hear it's that good. Is it really a vampire western??

yup... it sure is a vamp western =) great book!!

That's something I always wanted to see. I'll be getting my hands on that real soon.

Really? Lost Souls is supposed to be a classic. I did read about it though in . The Description sounded lame. And I read a short story by Poppy Z. Brite last Halloween. It wasn't very good.

YES... horrible pile of crap.. I didn't even finish it. the incest was welcomed (shudder) the killings made no sense (not for nourishment or joy just to do it) maybe if I was a depressed 15 yr old it would have been good. but as a grown-up(ish) it sucked!!!!!!

I've wanted to read this book for several decades now but somehow never got around to really buy it. I guess I have to push it up on my list (or rather add it, just found I didn't do so yet), even if I'm not quite sure I will like it too much after reading your comments - but I guess it's just something I have to do.
I wonder whether I will recognize some of the spirit of the time when reading that book. After all, it is a book of 'my generation' and for some time I was really deep into that gothic stuff.

Incest is gross, then again look at what I am reading right now... ..plenty of incest in that but still good books. LOL. Oh, and just to point out I have nothing against goths.

Beauty and the Beast is my very most favorite Disney movie and I just realized I have NEVER read the story. this was not the traditional story nor was it a traditional vampire story. I liked it, I more than liked it but the length & enormous amount of detail made me not love it. I can not even fathom the amount of research the author put into this book. It was part love story part history lesson.
The vampires are bloody and do not sparkle.

Thanks fore the Review Carla! It will definitely go on my wishlist, but more than 700 pages and history lessons? That's almost like a death sentence...

While I did see the Disney movie, too, my most vivid image of the Beast is of Ron Perlman in the '80s TV series (I'd love to see that again).

I think I also have a children's Disney fairy tale book containing BatB with some of the drawings, but it dates back to the 70s, which is long before the movie. I wonder whether they had a TV cartoon out in the past, too.

i saw your review... glad you enjoyed it as much as i did!!

for months at the beginning of the year I kept remembering a scene in a book but I could for the LIFE of me not recall which book/author. it was DRIVING me nuts. so I decided to re-read the 1st book of all my favorite series until I found it... was #1 and I finally found the Vampire Jagar I was looking for in book 6 or 7 but as I re-read them I fell in love with the series again and just kept going!!
the vamps are pretty but fierce/deadly/damaged but do not sparkle. its mostly a "romance series" each book focuses on another supernat couple.

I stumbled across the Sensor series and was enthralled. A senor was a new supernat and while I was annoyed she is 27 and just super freaking awesome when she shouldn't be. I couldn't put the series down... this series has it all, vamps, vamp/witch hybrids, fallen angels, demons, werewolves, shamans...
