There was this YA book I read many years ago and it was sort of the book that actually got me back into reading. It was one of those books that just stick with you becuase it was so perfect and heartfelt. I wish I never let a friend borrow my copy of What Happened to Lani Garver becuase she NEVER gave it back!

I still haven't tried blue blood. I've heard some great things about the series though...I've been terrible about keeping up with my TBR shelf lately. (sigh) I def need to do some catching up. Maybe I'll work on that tonight!

I haven't read Blue Blood yet (requested it from the library), but Vampire Academy is my all time favorite vampire series. So, I think reading it is an awesome idea!

I have the blue bloods series on my laptop, but because I am too lazy I havent read it yet. I love Vampire Academy and mortal Instruments.

I have to agree with everyone, I've read the first Vampire Academy and loved it.

I absolutely loved "Silver Kiss" by Annette Curtis Klause. I also like the twilight series. I tried to read "The Vampire Diaries" but for some reason I just could not get into it.

Zarifina, I agree on Vampire Diaries and Night World too. I don't know why I couldn't read more than one of those, I really wanted to like them.

I really wanted to like Vampire diaries too but for some reason it just didn't click for me. I think the language was too juvenile for me.

I liked Annette Curtis Klause when I was in high school. I remember liking that book, but haven't read anything by her since...

The Giver
Might be a little young for true YA, but I think it's a great way to introduce teenagers to deeper reading without getting too long winded and still having a fascinating storyline.

One series I read recently Uglies was very thought provoking. It was an easy read and some flaws in the science behind it most likely (not that science is my thing), but the characters were relatable as teenagers and it had interesting ideas on what are world could turn into and how central looks can become in things.

Also, loved S.E. Hinton and The Outsiders and That Was Then, This Is Now when I was in junior high and the stories have stayed with me.

Summer of My German Soldier was also had a very interesting insight into World War II. Another one that I read like 10 years ago, but has stayed with me enough that I remember the story. I didn't care for the sequel quite as much though, but it's by now means a bad book. If you're interested it is Morning is a Long Time Coming.

You may like the Uglies series. It has some very interesting aspects to it, but parts of it are simpler than you may like. The story and ideas aren't simple, but some of the language is. I'd give the first one a try if I were you (there usually at the library, that's where I got mine at least) and it's not a difficult read so you could get through it pretty easily.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower

I first read this book when I was around 22 years old. I still wish that I had been able to read it when I was younger. God I love this book. Don't be scared off by "The Catcher in the Rye" comparisons. I hated that book, but this book... There aren't enough words to describe my feeling.

If you like quotes, have a highlighter ready. Because this book is full of them. Trust me.

Hmmm...maybe I'll request it from the library for next time. I recently requested "Blue Bloods", which I am looking forward to! :)

I always thought an amazing series was The Complete Anne of Green Gables Boxed Set. The stories were amazing and there was always something about Anne and Green Gables that was able to reach readers even though many of the things in the stories are outdated. You just can't help but to love Anne (with and -e) Shirley.

I also feel like I should give 'The Nancy Drew Files' series some credit. While I wouldn't say this series is in any ways profound it was one that I was addicted to at the age of 10 and may be a contributing factor to my love of reading (well at least my love of reading a good mystery).

Is Christopher Pike YA? Because Monster is one of my all-time favorite books.

It may be old-school, but there you have it.

I never read the books, but I watched the show, and saw the movies. :) They were good!

Anne of Green Gables was definitely amazing. Does anyone remember "The Farthest Away Mountain?" As a kid I loved that one but when I was a teen I loved "The Game" and ANYTHING by V.C. Andrews. I used to really love to scare the bananas out of myself as a teenager. Still do, come to think of it. Hm.

Thanks to a free Kindle download, I have gotten hooked on the Rhiannon Godfrey novels by Traci Hall.

LOL I was thinking about this book a few weeks ago, but couldn't remember the name! I read it in high school, and thought it was really good. :)

I don't know what made me suddenly remember it now, or why I ever forgot it in the first place. I wish I had a copy cause I'd love to read it now and see how it holds up. I might just end up getting mad again because there's no sequel, though. lol

A YA fantasy that I recently really enjoyed is Surviving Serendipity by Jacquelyn Sylvan

I haven't read it yet but i want to its the first book of the Luxe series by Anna Godbersen.

I thought that sounded interesting too! Haven't gotten to it yet...

One that I read when I was younger was Winter of Fire by Sherryl Jordan. I couldn't remember the title and seriously just went searching for it because it was one of those books that really stuck with me. It's a YA fantasy, but so much more than that at the same time, with a wonderful young female heroine. It may be out of print, but if you can find it I definitely recommend it.

I haven't read a lot of YA, just recently started. I've read & really liked the Twilight series. The most recent YA book I've read and LOVED was Fallen by Lauren Kate. I could hardly put the book down... read it in ONE day!

I'm currently obsessed with The Hunger Games! If you haven't read the series yet I highly recommend it. Catching Fire wasn't quite as good as the first and I'm still reading Mockingjay, but so far they've all been engrossing.

Another YA that is wonderfully written is The Book Thief. The point of view is original, the characters are well developed, and the insight into a small town in Nazi Germany is interesting.
