Welcome to Recommendation Swap - a great way to try new books!

Sign up for this and you will be asked to recommend a book to someone, and in turn you will receive a recommendation from someone else. You will have two months to read the book you have been recommended, and then you get the chance to “report back” – just tell us what you thought of it!

The rules only say you have to have 30 comments before signing up, not before the sign-up thread goes up, so if you want in you have a week before sign-ups end to make more comments. Check out the 100 best novels or What have you read sections and I'd bet you could make a couple dozen contributions. :)

That's true, amber, if anyone wants to take part, there are plenty of conversation threads to join in with before 24th April. There's still time!!

It's every 3 months so I think the next one will be November. There is usually a new thread for sign ups nearer the time and all that is required is that you have 30 comments in the group.

Hi Sandy, it is quarterly, and the next sign ups will be mid July, for an Aug/Sep read.

Hi June, right at the top of the group home page, just underneath the paragraph describing the group, it says "you are a member" with an option to click on "edit". If you click on "edit", you will see how long you have been a member and how many comments you have made.

I know what you mean, it does get confusing! I'll let you into a little secret (don't tell anyone!) - to make it easier for me to remember, I have made the swap months the same as when the vat is due at work!! Well, it's just to make sure I don't forget, and I haven't so far!

Hi Jennifer, the next swap will be May, so look out for the sign up thread in April! They are quarterly, so the one after that will be August (sign up in July )and then November (sign up October).

Hi, yes you can do that, Caecilia, although it is a good way of trying new authors and genres, and there have been some good surprises along the way!

:-) oh, I can sure imagine.
with fantasy the problem is me not being a native speaker (and, lack of interest in the whole magic, dragons, golums & co) - and chicklit just really does not open my mind or give me the feeling of adding something significant to my personal life. it's not the romantic content itself, consider "Dept. of Speculation" or "The First Bad Man" - both books do deal with love as such, but it's the how .. that matters. :-)

I'm open to reading a classic, discovering a new contemporary fiction author, would also be open to dig into SciFi (which is a pretty complicated genre to read) - and, I'm a lover of a good mystery or crime novels.

This really sounds like fun! I'm almost at 30 comments, so I think I will sign up!

There will be a sign up in January for a February swap. We have a rule that members must have at least 30 comments as previously we’ve had people sign up but then not recommend or read a book. So please join in some discussions and look out for the announcement in the new year
