Honestly, not too much. First name is one thing, school name and mascot is another.

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments First name, yes, that's all. And okay maybe age. But that's sort of impossible these days.

Xdyj | 127 comments I think people should be informed of the potential danger of giving out personal information & decide for themselves. IMHO people should at least use pseudonym & avoid giving out any personal information if they want to be cautious, & try to hide their IP if they feel threatened.

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments I only give details on the websites that safe and ones that fall under the freedom of information act ( I think thats the safe one If not there'll be someone impersonating me out there)

Probably A Serial Killer | 8 comments I think that it really depends on the situation. For instance, you wouldn't tell a total stranger who seems maybe a little on the creepy side even your real first name (At least, I wouldn't.),much less your age,or anything about you. But if you've known someone for awhile, and you think you can trust them, I think that some information is okay....after all, you can't go through life assuming everybody is a predator.
That being said, I am much more conscious online than I used to be, for the simple reason that you never know.

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments The only thing you find when you type in my name is stuff associated with my school!

message 7: by Faye (new)

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments There's a good side to giving out personal info though. I met some of my online friends for real (after exchanging infos like names, mobile numbers, pictures even), and we all still hang out, we even watch movies.

But I'm not recommending this to anyone. Haha, I don't know why I don't. I'm just saying there's a good side...sometimes. :]

Yes. And I guess I got lucky hahaha. (And they're unlucky because they got to meet me lol just kidding :])

Hey what's your opinion though on meeting your online friends for real (which is after giving your personal/way too personal details)?

message 9: by Xdyj (new)

Xdyj | 127 comments I have never done that myself, but I think if both sides are sure that the other person is completely honest & the meeting is at some public places it should be OK to do so.

message 10: by Evan (new)

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments When I meet people form the Internet I always take a friend and we usually have talked through webcam so we know the face and co.

message 11: by Faye (new)

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments @Xdyj, yes. The place is important. It has to be a public place. Like, in a place where you're all going to attend a convention, a book convention=, something like that.

@Evan, didn't do the webcam thing before, but I did the take a friend part, only I took my sister with me.

@H99, if you'd ever do it, please take care. Haha, better meet people on a convention/activity with lots of people. :]

message 12: by Evan (new)

Evan (sampsom) | 578 comments Yeah I met the Internet people at mcm which is the biggest comicon in England and the people I was with were kind and they looked out for me!

message 13: by Faye (new)

Faye (asdfayeiouvwxyz) | 269 comments Cool! Are you still meeting up with them, Evan?

Same here,H99, not gonna meet any of you in a store somewhere haha. Oh but a convention is the safest meetup place I could think of. Like Evan's experience, I met some through a comicon.

Like a mini-convention where we can offer dead bodies and recite dark spells? Haha just kidding XD
