Nathan "N.R." Gaddis (nathannrgaddis) | 414 comments Before The Wake the world was formless and void ;; but by looking backward through a certain four-part cycle Birth-Wed-Die-Again Joyce discovered lots of book-bricks for Finnegan his wall to build and his humpty to dumpty.

A folder for all those books that went into The Wake. Don't forget someone to ADD the book from the Egyptians about the dead. Also the recursus of VICO, his Nova Scientia.

Harry Collier IV | 119 comments James Atherton wrote a book a while back about the many works that went into the writing of FW called The Books at the Wake.
I picked it up this weekend as I am about to head back into the Wake for another wonder-filled trip and it is very expansive. The amount of information Atherton includes about literary sources for FW could easily take an entire lifetime to read.
Still I am going to try and track down some of these books and read them in the hopes that they will shed a little more light on FW.
