I have a problem with her too, but because she's somewhat two-dimensional.

I am glad to hear this.. because I find her irritating a little. :/

it definitely starts off rather quickly! Phew. Definitely had to pace myself so I wouldn't devour it in one sitting! And I looooove Zel. She's a nice balance of smart without being a robot.

Yeah, it definitely took me a while to get used to the holo technology! I still can't imagine what a holo stud looks like xD

Also I really want a holo stud, it's like Google Glass but even better xD

This book definitely starts off with a bang, eh? We have the tragic car crash, then Dylia is stolen, and then Zelia is brought to a new and crazy place with weird people!
I love the amount of plot going on.. we're constantly being exposed to new story, new settings, and new gadgets and technology. The only thing I'm kind of scared of is that character development is being sacrificed for plot... I feel that everything is a bit rushed.
What do you guys think? I'm definitely excited to keep reading!

I'M TOTALLY THINKING THE SAME THING. I really really hope she has powers!

I don't want to put it down!!!

I couldn't agree more...
I couldn't resist starting this book a little bit earlier than I planned! I just finished chapter 8, and I'm really enjoying this so far! The world is awesome and I love all the little details and the cool sci-fi technology!
I definitely agree with what a lot of you are saying about the pace being really fast, but I actually love that! The only problem I've encountered is that there are a lot of different characters introduced quickly and I'm struggling a bit to keep track of who is who, but I feel like that won't be a problem for very long as I keep reading!
One thing I'm wondering though... how do you guys pronounce Dyl and Zel? I was saying Dyl like it rhymes with bill (because of Zel's 'Dyl Pickle' comment) but then Micah says their names rhyme! I've been thinking Dyl rhymes with bill and Zel rhymes with bell, but what have you all been saying??

Jarrin wrote: "I finally finished chapter 8; the critics were not lying when they said this was a fast-paced thriller. The descriptions of Zelia Benten's world are extraordinary and just down right brilliant. I h..."
Totally agree! I'm LOVING all the tech and world building, but I do wish we knew more about Zel's dad and his personality! We get that Zel really trusts him and listens to him, but we don't get much else! I'm hoping we'll learn more about her dad as the story goes on.

I believe the names are Dyl-ee-ah and Zel-ee-ah. I hope that helps!!!

"I've just lost everything I've ever known and she's getting all hydrochloric acid on me."
There are no words to describe how funny I found this. This is now going to be my insult towards people who annoy me. "Gah, quit being all hydrochloric acid."

The -- what do we call them? Specials? People-with-powers? Anyway, those people kind of remind me of the Peculiars from Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. But that may just be because I just finished reading that.
