We are nearing the end! Discuss below chapter 17-24. How do you think this book is going to end?

Ilse (eelsaysbooks) | 3 comments Somehow I feel like Dyl is going to die or someone is going to die. I don't know!!

Arissa Cannella | 8 comments Ok so here's my mini rant. UGHHH Micah is sooooo infuriating. But Cy and Zel are so amazing together. For some reason I feel like Ana and Zel could become good friends. I like how Zel is finally seen as special now that her trait has come out. Also, I loved when she got to talk to her dad -sort of- through the hologram. As of right now I hope she gets Dyl back and that Micah gets a taste of his own medicine.

Adeeb (adeebn) | 7 comments I liked the book's beginning more. The plot did not seem as dangerous as I hoped it would be :(

Colleen (colleengreens) | 6 comments I am really enjoying the relationship between Zel and Cy, but I wish we got to see a little more about how that developed. It kind of had an insta-love aspect to it. Not that I'm complaining because I love them together.

Dana | 8 comments Oh man! I don't feel it was total instant love between zelia and cy.. I think it lead up to it pretty well considering how much is happening in one book.. I do think the whole book is moving a bit speedy but I love it over all! And I hope hex and Vera get together too!!!

Christine Nguyen (cneve) I am really happy with the pacing of Zel and Cy! New revelations for many characters.. Ana and Micah especially. you can just tell something is about to go down especially at the end of chapter 24!

Liz (elizziebooks) | 30 comments I'm on this part right now (pg 229 to be precise) and thinking about how DANG LUCKY Zelia is for having these people in her life. She's independent, not dumb for sure. Definitely questioning both Carus and Aruioeuiorueois (not gonna try) right now.

Ryoku Light | 14 comments Omg .....love what's about to go down....Micah is so aggravating though I hope he gets what's coming to him. I do love cy and zels relationship I think it progressed really well. They are so cute together...poor Ana by the way gah I am so excited to see how everything will come together.

Alessandra (deamonicshot162) | 17 comments So it's a defiant no go for a Kw and Zel possibility. God that guy is such a jerk!! I'm glad that Zel hs finally found family among these people who are just like her. I think Cy and Zel's relationship is just so cute! It progressed very nicely. Something big is about to go down, and I can't wait to read it!!

Liv (livb) | 5 comments Zelia fustrates me to no end. I feel like she falls for Cy too fast, maybe I'm just critical but one doesn't discover that she might never grow old and then decide to make out with a boy she just met. That being said, I have enjoyed the story so far and I'm very excited to finish.

message 12: by Judy (new) - rated it 4 stars

Judy Patrick | 10 comments Grr! Zelia, stop being silly! Loving the book to bits but I wish female-protagonists would stop being so secretive towards the people they love!!!! I feel like she could have just told Cy about the serum and then Marka could take it to save Dyl. Zelia taking the serum is a sure-fire way for her to get kidnapped/hurt and then the whole "family" will be upset and no good can come!! Love this book and the Cy-Zel relationship. Hope everything ends well!!

AdrienneViolet | 5 comments I don't think Zeal going alone to get her sister is a good idea. I mean there is no way they are just gonna let her walk away!

Zel/Cy definitely grew on me in these chapters!

message 15: by Liz (new) - rated it 5 stars

Liz (elizziebooks) | 30 comments These chapters were AWESOME. I know many main characters tend to be pretty dumb and run off on their own with half-baked plans, but Zel doesn't do that. Sure, she runs off on her own, but she had quite the game plan. Maybe not 100% figured out, but pretty dang close.

Mom2triplets04 | 40 comments Don't think her trait exchange is going to work. 78 percent finished. Wanted to finish tonight but the story is starting to put me to sleep.

Taylor O'mahony | 8 comments Judy wrote: "Grr! Zelia, stop being silly! Loving the book to bits but I wish female-protagonists would stop being so secretive towards the people they love!!!! I feel like she could have just told Cy about the..."

i completely agree with you! That is one thing that really bugs me about the female characters in books and that has been bugging me about zelia in this book, that they keep major secrets from their loved ones. so irritating!

Taylor O'mahony | 8 comments really liked these chapters. I had started to create a theory that Zelia had a trait too but i guessed differently to what her trait actually was. But still enjoying it, loving the zelia/cy relationship. And i'm really feeling for Ana now, at first she creeped me out a little cause im not keen on anything slightly creepy but now that more information about Ana has been revealed I can really feel for her and understand things a little more so its not creepy anymore.

Sandra Gil (smgt) | 7 comments Favorite chapters so far! I had though about the possibility of Zelia having a trait since she decided to use her DNA as the control and love that it did happen and her trait is really awesome. We all know that exchange of hers is not going to work. I cant believe that after what Marka told her about what they did to Ana she is still going through with this. I dont think her idea of dosing them off is going to work i mean dont they (specially Cy) metabolize thing differently ?wont it wear off quickly? Anyway lets see what happens.

cas | 7 comments I can't stop reading! I literally had a flashlight on last night just to read the book and I would probably finish it tomorrow if it weren't for the bet I made I had to finish a 37-chapter long fanfic by friday

Brittany Metcalf | 4 comments I absolutely loved those chapters! Cy and Zelia are so cute together. I don't like how Zelia is lying to everyone and how she's going to go and meet them by herself, obviously something is gonna go wrong. Something big is about to go down and I can't wait to find out what it is!

Angel | 4 comments Sooooo I told myself I'd read up to chapter 8 so I could discuss it in the 1-8 forum. Before I knew it I was know chapter 24!!!! This book really sucks you in doesn't it? I love how cy and zel are together but it wasn't surprising. I still loved it though! And o.m.g I had a laugh fest when they talk about the "char" HOW FUNNY WAS THAT? now everytime they say char I have a little silent giggle lol.

Jennifer Stansbury (jennstansbury) | 7 comments I am still in love with this book. I am finding the relationship between Zel and Cy a little rushed. I love it but Im just finding its like one chapter they are "hating" each other and the next they are pretty much on top of each other. I do wish we had more Ann in this section. I want Zel and An to develop their friendship a lot more.

Danica | 4 comments I think the idea of Zelia's trait is really cool. Also, at first I didn't like the idea of Zelia and Cy getting together but I've warmed up to it. I honestly think it is really dumb of Zel to go off on her own to trade Dyl for the serum, because they are obviously not going to follow through, Marka told her as much. I think that it's dumb because if she lets Marka go, at least they have a chance of following through. I have a feeling something is going to go wrong with her serum also.

Maddie worden | 5 comments I understand how she how she feels with having to decide chose between her sister or Cy. If Marka can smell lying then she knows Zel is still going to go. Part of me thinks it's admirable that she wants to go and the other half is like what are you thinking?!? I really hope no one dies guys! Yupe I am staying up all night finishing it. Lol

Celeste (pinkbear) I so want to know more about Ana and what really happened to her there have been many revelations about her and I also want to see how Zel and Ana friendship develops. Micah is definitely the bad guy and I hope he gets his own back.

Danielle I'm wandering if Cy might age slowly because of his fast healing... maybe his gift compliments Zel's.

message 28: by Liv (new) - rated it 4 stars

Liv (oliviareadstoomuch) Yes!!! My dream couple, my OTP of this story, per se, have gotten together and I couldn't be happier. Micah makes me mad I don't trust him whatsoever. I think he's there to help Zel or Dyl at all. It's sad that Zel has to betray her friends (basically her new family) to try to get her sister back. I think (read hope) that Zel gets Dyl back safe and sound and that Cy isn't too mad at her. Sidenote: I love all the genetic nerd speak going on when we found out about Zel's unique DNA.

message 29: by Mad (new) - rated it 2 stars

Mad (madeleine_cassier) I both like and dislike how Zel figured out about her unique DNA: nice to see it happened via her using her brain and not just suddenly manifesting powers, but if she's such a science-y gal, how did she not realise sooner that her own DNA was missing sequences? She clearly knows DNA and what it looks like, so wouldn't she have immediately noticed that her own looked a little sparse? I'm not a science person, myself, so I could be totally off in assuming that's something she could/should have noticed sooner...
I wish they'd been able to explain Dylia's false positive in the hospital a little better, because that in addition to the incident in the junkyard makes the antagonists come off as kind of sloppy in their execution. Also, is it bad that I don't really have a clear idea as to whom each of these gifted antagonists are save for Micah? I feel like he's the only one whose been attributed any serious page-time, and given the old saying that "a hero is only as good as his/her villain", that's a bit of a bummer.
Outside of those things, and the still-inconsistent pacing, I must say that I'm loving Hex and Vera as basically my two favourite characters in this story. I'd read a spin-off novella/novel on them any day ;)

message 30: by I.S. (new) - rated it 5 stars

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) | 9 comments As far as somebody dieing, I think this is supposed to be a trilogy, so there will probably not be any deaths, yet. (Did I just jinx it?)

I'm not that into Cy and Zel. To me there relationship just felt so cliche'. She hates him and is yet turned on by him at first glance. He acts all emo around her until he caves in and admits he wants her. They are forced to work together on something, and next thing you know they are in "New couple" mode. She then starts going on about how beautiful he is. I had a Twilight cringe when she started going on about his "gold eyes."

Katastrofekat | 2 comments So far I like the writing and the pacing of this book. It does a good job sucking me into the story and I find the world very cool, although I would have liked a bit more worldbuilding, especially if this is going to be a trilogy. So, I like the book, but at the same time I find it very predictable. Sure, the science is cool and not something I've read a lot, but the overall plot arch is very typical for young adult. Let's just say I wasn't at all suprised when Zel turned out to be the one with a special trait.

Zel and Cy is fine, but again, not very new. I really hope this book does a total flip on me and really surprises me!

message 32: by Anna (new) - rated it 4 stars

Anna Millard I have definitely come to like this book more and more as I kept going. I have high hopes that the ending will be even better.
Zel gets on my nerves a little bit because she keeps pushing Cy away. Wouldn't it make sense that she would want to spend time with him at least ONCE more before she leaves and possibly never sees him again? And I feel like Marka already knows what Zelia's planning. She should be able to smell the lies and whatnot.
Did anybody else also notice that the Cy/Zelia/Micah relationship is EXACTLY like the Darcy/Lizzie/Wickham relationship? I don't know how I feel about that. On one hand, I love it because I love P&P but it is quite blatantly a replica.

I.S. Anderson (Eman1272) | 9 comments I should be finished with the story today. I'm looking forward to it.

message 34: by Amanda (new)

Amanda | 17 comments I KNEW IT!!!!!!!!
I knew it was Zelia who really had the gift! And I knew it made her age- resistant!
Although I honestly hope that, for her sake, she does age a little, just enough to reach adult age physically. It would suck, being stuck in the physical body of a twelve year old the rest of your life (however long that may be).
Anyway, I was in the middle of chapter 25 before I stopped. Man, this book is hard to stop reading!

Chandra | 5 comments Wasn't shocking to me that Zel had the gift. I'm a little annoyed that she is lying and working on her own. I can't believe all we learn about Ana so sad, I really like her. NEED TO FINISH THE BOOK ..,NOW!

Brandt (brandtjohnson) The romance is getting a little annoying. *I'm going to take her rock climbing and makeout with her mid climb.* It's a little much... haha

I do like that Zelia has an ability though. Throughout the whole book she's put herself down and doesn't have much self worth. Now that she thinks she has something to offer, things have reversed. It's nice to see her grow.

I'm anxious to know whether or not Micah is a bad guy. He seems to jump back and forth.

message 37: by Shaery (last edited Feb 14, 2014 06:13PM) (new) - rated it 1 star

Shaery (shaerysniffler) I agree with a lot of you that you're all fed up with the main female keeping secrets ( and possibly lies) from their loved ones. I mean, what the heck, Zelia? They're keeping you "locked up" for your own protection, so nothing bad happens to you again. Finally, Micha! Quit trying to act like the good guy over and over again. I know you're playing Zel again and so does she.

Diana | 9 comments I feel like Zelia is gonna sneak our but Cy is definitely gonna follow her and Zelia is going to have to choose between Cy and Dyl. I feel like the rest of them will swoop in to try and save the day but Ana will save them all. Or Ana will make something happen to save themselves but it will wage complete war between Carus and Aureus and Micah will become a prisoner of Carus and Dyl will come back damaged like Ana. I feel like Aureus will also get the elixir of Zelia's DNA. I also really really hope none of the bad stuff I predicted will happen but I also do because I want a second book to diverge into this world!!

message 39: by Ang (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ang (megareader4) | 5 comments I am really loving zel and cy's relationship right now. The thing that I don't like is zel lying to her family/friends especially to cy. I know zel just wants her sister back but can't she see it is too dangerous for her and how it won't be an easy trade to get her sister back. Also if she doesn't get taken and brings her sister back, how is everyone at the house going to say and I don't think they will be able to trust her. And then cy will see she lied to him and things will get bad. I also feel like someone is going to die, I am not sure who but I have a feeling someone is. Can't wait to keep reading.

Jarrin (buttonpop) Zel was especially interesting on this chapters, the whole of chapter 21 was pretty steamy. Thought the world building leaves something to be desired I'm so glad I picked up this book.

J. Chen | 5 comments =_= Blood work has been switched. Called it. I don't trust Micah cause he is wayyyyyy too nice. Called it. *sigh* I'm getting more and more disappointed in this book especially since it's starting to read more like a fan fiction more than anything else...

Betsy (bstac31) | 7 comments Enjoying this book so much! I hope to finish it today! Zelia's trait is way cool and I love how Cy and her share a love for lab work. I hate how, like Tris, she is running off without telling anyone but I ago believe she has better reasoning and plans. Cy is a very interesting character and I love his relationship with Ana. Can't wait to finish the book.

Fille (feeyuh) Oh my gosh the tree climbing scene was so cool! How awesome would a gadget like that be?? Also, I love Cy, the bad boy on the outside and sweet and loving on the inside. So perfect!

I'm glad the story is picking up- I'm really enjoying it now. I'm so nervous about what is to come with Zelia meeting with Micah!

message 44: by T (new) - rated it 3 stars

T God save me from the instalove. As soon as Zel and Cy 'get together' it seems as if they are in 'love' and will die for each other and I cringed when Zel looked at Cy 'lovingly'. *shudders*

On a more positive note, I love Ana and the way she was developed, from the creepy doll heads to helping Zel take her 'family' with her.
