steampunk is like.. well, google pretty much sums it up: "a genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery rather than advanced technology."
It's also usually set sometime in the past. The closest thing I've read to steampunk was the infernal devices series, which was more a mix of steampunk and fantasy. I would really love to do dystopian also though.
