I managed to also get the library to get The Winter Queen although it hasn't come yet.
TaTaaaaaaa! And there I thought I wouldn't have time to join in with Boris Akunin, but I just stumbled upon the audiobook of He Lover of Death in the library, so I will give it a go. It is the 9th book in the Fandorin series, but I just assume it doesn't matter so much in which order they are read.
I'm going to be very late joining in with this. I'm supposed to be the only one waiting for this but it seems weeks since I reserved it.
Don't worry Hilary - I'm not a 1/4 of the way through yet.

According to the Bloomsbury Good Reads guide, Mr Akunin is a Russian author who has written a series of wildly popular detective novels featuring a government special investigator in late 19th century Imperial Russia.
There is also a 2nd series starring a "gauche but resourceful nun"
