Yeah, that and The Miseducation of Cameron Post are two of the best, most amazing, most heartbreaking, but still best YA LGBT books I've read. I'm glad I could help you find a place for a book!
for opt "a" under books 2 & 3; do those books need to have the genre of glbt or just that the author appears on the glbt list link?

This is what I'm considering:Book 1: Will Grayson, Will Grayson by John Green and David Levithan.
Book 2: Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
Book 3: Dash & Lily's Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan.
Would Books 2 & 3 qualify as David Levithan is a co-author on both and also on Book 1? Or would it only work if John Green and David Levithan co-wrote Books 2 and 3? I have other options, if this doesn't work, but thought I'd run it by you.

I'm sorry, it won't work. If you had another John Green/David Levithan book, it'd be fine, but both the authors should be the same.
(As a sidenote, I was really surprised David Levithan wasn't on the wiki list. He should be!)

No worries...while I was searching around I found another Rachel Cohn/David Levithan book (Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List) that has GLBT as a main page genre so that can be book 1! Then I think that the other two meet the criteria of having the same author(s) as Book 1, if I use that Option twice. I'm also drawn to NPH's "Choose Your Own Autobiography" as he's one of my favorite personalities...decisions, decisions!

Also, I got NPH's autobio from the Amazon sale the other day, and I'm super-excited to read it. CYOA is fun (which is why my novel is CYOA)!

Hi! I would like to clarify whether I could read three books by the same author, chosen for Book 1, since I can choose twice the Option C. Great task, by the way!
If we go with Option C, can it be a collective works with multiple authors as long as the original author is included? Or does it need to be a book with just them as the author?

The NPH autobiography is actually magical on audiobook. You would not think with a choose your own adventure that would be the format to choose, but with NPH it is.

And regarding your surprise: I know, right? I love that list because some of the people on it aren't those you'd necessarily expect. Granted, most names before 1900 are speculation, but it's still pretty interesting.
For book 1 I plan to read Middlesex by Jeffrey EugenidesFor books 2 and 3 I choosed option A twice, and I plan to read Room by Emma Donoghue and American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis

*Trying to keep myself from using Ellen Hopkins for all three books....*I've recently decided to just go on a run of all of her books that I have remaining to read, so I was really tempted to fit all three of them in here. Haha.
(I ended up going with two of hers, and Frog Music by Emma Donoghue, who is on the Option A list. - I didn't know she was gay, learned something new!)

Edit: I'm also really surprised that David Levithan is not on that list. I expected him to be on it for sure.
Another writer that missed the Wikipedia list is Nicola Griffith. I do not generally like this genre but her writings are fantastic!
Another writer that is missing from the list is Fannie Flagg who was once the partner of Rita Mae Brown (who IS on the list)
Yay Ellen Hopkins! <3 I got to meet her and David Levithan when they were doing a joint signing in town. It was one of the coolest birthday presents ever.Julie Anne Peters isn't on the list, nor is Jacqueline Woodson. It's definitely incomplete, but the task would be difficult to moderate without it.
I'm glad people are liking my task so far! :D
(Also, if you like Emma Donoghue and/or fairy tales, read Kissing the Witch: Old Tales in New Skins. They're REALLY good!)

I agree that the task would be very hard to moderate without a list of some kind. I just wish some of those authors were listed - not for this task, but just in general, for people looking for GLBT authors. There are still plenty of great authors on that list, though. I debated for a bit between using Emma Donoghue or Sarah Waters - both authors I really want to read - but since I already own Frog Music, it won out. I'm trying to be good right now and read at least some books that I already own. Haha.
Sarah Waters is a really good author, too--I love her books!

This is really not something that should be done in order to use a particular author for this task - much like adding a book to a listopia so that you can use it.

I found this list: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor... is it also possible to pick a artist from this list for option A? providing it approves with all the other rules of courseBecause I would like to read a graphic novel for this one very much but comic artist are usually not on author lists because comics are not largely accepted as real books yet unfortunately.

In honor of recent victories highlighting the power of love in this crazy, mixed-up world of ours, read THREE books from the following options.
Graphic novels that fit the rules of the challenge ARE allowed for this task.
Book 1: Read a book with the genre GLBT as a main page genre. GLBT may appear alone or embedded.
Books 2 and 3: Read TWO books from the following options. You may choose the same option twice. The genre GLBT is NOT required for these books, although it may appear. Required: State which option(s) you chose when you post.
A) Read a book written by a GLBT author on this list: List of LGBT writers.
B) Read a biography, autobiography, or memoir about someone who is GLBT. Ex. Happy Accidents, Fun Home: A Family Tragicomic, Neil Patrick Harris: Choose Your Own Autobiography
C) Read a book by the same author as one of your other two books. For example, if you read Tricks for your first book, you can read another book by Ellen Hopkins for your second book.
