I went to the bookstore today hoping to buy my first book by J.R. Ward, but they didn't have a single book by her. I probably shouldn't have gone to a used bookstore...(sigh)

When I finally make my way over to a regular bookstore, which book should I start with?

I wasn't sure which one came first. It is a LONG series. I was considering waiting until Covet comes out, but everyone is raving about the Dark brotherhood series, and I don't think I can wait. LOL

Jackie M | 452 comments In my opinion the series needs to be longer much longer.LOL I can't get enough! I hope you really like it Joy.

gina~* | 39 comments My used bookstore didn't have any Ward either.. I wonder why that is, it certainly seems like there are a ton of readers out there.

I just requested Dark lover from the library. Almost all of them were checked out. I'm not really surprised since it seems to be such a popular series. I was really tempted to read it out of order, but talked myself into reading the 1st book in the series instead.

message 7: by new_user (new)

new_user That's probably a good sign. Everyone keeps their copies, LOL.

message 8: by Teryl (new)

Teryl Joy, this is a series that really needs to be read in order. There is so much side story that progresses with each book.

I was thinking the same thing NU, everyone keeps the books :)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 654 comments It's definitely hard to find used copies of the BDB. All of them are wishlisted on PBS. One time I found one at the library sale, but I already owned it by then. I also managed to get Lover Eternal a long time ago at the UBS, and out of sheer luck found a copy of Lover Avenged literally two days after it came out. I've never seen any other ones there though. As I recall, I bought one new, got one as a gift and borrowed from the library while patiently waiting my turn at PBS to get the rest of the series for my keeper shelf.

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 37 comments My local library doesn't have any Ward books but I found the first two in an animal rescue charity shop and the rest I've been buying from ebay sellers. The most annoying part about buying from ebay is the wait to get the book in my hands.

I hate ebay... LOL I like Abebooks cause they are REALLY cheap...I like Amazon too...

My stupid library still hasn't gotten in my J.R. Ward book. I was really hoping to get it by today so that I could read it in the car drive tomorrow. :(

Chasidy I love Ward's books. :) I'm still in the process of picking up my copy of Revh's book.

message 13: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie I got lucky and found the first three books at a UBS. It is what persuaded me to finally start the series.

So...I am almost done with Dark Lover! I'm enjoying it, but I am VERY interested to read Rhage's story. I think he's the most interesting of the brothers. I'm excited to read Z's story too. I just don't like all the piercings...piercings are not a turn on to me. I'm fine with scars and tats...I'm okay with having an ear piercing, but I am turned off because of his nipple piercings...
Is that weird? LOL
Did that turn off anyone else?

BTW...Butch and Marissa...is their story worth reading? I'm asking, because I don't like them very much in Dark Lover. Are they better in Lover Revealed?

message 15: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 286 comments ha ha Joy Zs pierced nipple is probably only mentioned once or twice and even then not in any great detail (nott hat I canremember anyway).. I was the same about Butch and MArissa, I read their book last and along time after I'd finished LAv, but it's become one of my favourites plus there are situations in that books that ARE part of the story. For instance theres something going on with Rhev that I knew nothing about but explains alot that happens in LAv.

I guess I'll have to read Lover Revealed then... IDK, Butch and Marissa just dont "do it" for me. LOL Although, I like Butch on his own. I think it's Marissa that bothers me. She just feels "empty". I'm not sure if thats the right word...

Which of the boys was your favorite?

message 17: by Adrienne (new)

Adrienne | 286 comments I like V, infact Butchs' book explains alot about what happens in his book too. I also like Rhage because I had a mental picture of him right from the start, I know exactly what he looks like, and he's never ever looked any diferent, I didn't get this with any of the others exccept for John Matthew (who's not technically a brother;)

Marissa is empty for a reason...please don't let that put you off...her character is probably one of the most complex of the BDB women.

I am VERY excited to read Rhage's story. He seems like my type of guy. LOL I haven't gotten excited about V's story yet, but he isn't talked about too much in the first book. Very small role...I'm sure I'll get more excited soon... :)

message 19: by new_user (new)

new_user I think you'll like Rhage's story, Joy. He's really very sweet, which you don't learn until his book. ;) And you get to meet John Matthew in that book, I believe. Sigh. Ah, JM.

Now I am intrigued...to discover who John Matthew is. LOL Hope the library sends me the books soon! :)

Lauren | 244 comments you are going to loooovve JM!
I have to admit Butch and Marissa and Phury's story were my least favorite. How ever I really enjoyed the side stories much better. so i say they are worth reading.

I am currently reading Lover Avenged. Rhage is funny lol so is Vishous and his wife Dr Jane. I was annoyed with Phury and how he seemed determined to be a saviour and would open himself to love and be loved. But Zhadist is the one who I felt for most

message 23: by Jackie M (new)

Jackie M | 452 comments I can't wait for Covet to come out. I hope it will be just as good as the BDB books.
