Archetype question

The dystopian near-future in which Archetype is set is amazingly like the one in The Handmaid's Tale. In Archetype, many of society's problems are the same -- namely, female infertility -- they are just dealt with a little differently (but a lot the same), and the main character's predicament (and therefore the way the plot unfolds) is from a different perspective. I fully expect a lot of readers to cry foul on Margaret Atwood's behalf. Archetype is sort of what would happen if Atwood decided to include bodice-ripping sex scenes in her books. These "romantic" asides, by the way, are pretty gross.

In summation, Archetype could almost be a story within the world Atwood created in The Handmaid's Tale. The more I think about it, the more accurate that description seems to me.
