I've changed all to Joan B. Culla because GR policy is to use whatever's on the cover of the book and that seems to be his pen name.

Hi! I've been trying to add the Chinese edition of my original English work "Land and the Ruling Class in Hong Kong" on my Author Page, but couldn't do it.

Please ignore my previous post. My problem has been solved.

The prefix in this author's name was entered incorrectly,
("DuMaurier" instead of the accepted "du Maurier") and this has caused an issue of two author profiles that need merging.

#8, the author all in caps had a book with a blank title. After I edited the blank title field, it let me merge the two profiles.

The author Martin Cruz Smith has some titles attributed to Martin Cruz-Smith (hyphenated). Are you able to remove the hyphenated author name and attribute those titles to the correct (unhyphenated) author?

This is a weird one. The author profile of José Hernández shows, besides his books, the books of the author José Antonio Hernández.

I have moved this book to the correct profile, but am unsure on any others. If you see any more, let me know and I'll move those too.

It can happen when authors have middle names (or a second surname in the case of Spanish authors). It appears that the second name was omitted when the book was added, so it went to the wrong profile.

SAP R/3 Handbook is the only one still left there. Thanks a lot!

OK, they are done. The author needed to be changed manually on each edition (the way I did it was I clicked on "all editions" then used the drop down for each book to check if they needed editing).

I'm trying to help author Erika Wilde (https://www.goodreads.com/search?utf8... ) remove 5 books that have been added to her author profile that she didn't write. Books that need to be changed are Emma's Game Day Dilemma, Cuckold Cuties Trilogy, Car Wash Cuties, Car Wash Cuties 2, and Car Wash Cuties 3. Have been put under the author name Shikibu Murasaki (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) but there is a fuller Murasaki Shikibu profile (https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...) which has more of her books. Both ways of doing her name are correct, but Murasaki Shikibu is the English ordering.

The first book I listed with the Edward Seidensticker translation is unique and not listed on the other author page, but the second book should be combined with this: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9...

I don't know that much about Japanese authors, but I do know that names are usually written surname first.

On the cover of both of those books, the author name is quite clearly given as Murasaki Shikibu. I have therefore combined the profiles and have also combined the books.

Murasaki Shikibu wasn't even her real name, so in her case it's even more complicated.

One other thing—that same book you combined (https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...) is missing the other two authors. It has a section by Murasaki Shikibu, but also a section by Sarashina Nikki and a section by Izumi Shikibu.

I've done a bit of investigation on this, via use of Worldcat. I've noticed that each edition has varying authors:

So, I looked into "Sarashina", who also appears to be the author of this book:

Now this is the page on Worldcat for it:

There is a note on that page which says:

" ... the author of this book ... is usually known as "Takasue's Daughter" (Takasue no Musume) ... The book is usually known as "Sarashina nikki" ... "--Introd.

So it appears that the second authors name should be "Takasue no Musume" (or rather, "Sugawara no Takasue no Musume", as per the author profile that is on here), which would also be consistent with the other editions.

However, I will let you confirm it before I update it and merge these three profiles:

That looks accurate to me. It's so hard became in this time period in Japan, most people were given nicknames based on their position in society which became their names—though they weren't their birth names. So anyway, that looks fine. Thanks!

Got 39. All editions of books originally published under Karina Gioertz will keep that name as primary author. However, I have set as default the newer edition in each case of the books republished under K.S. Thomas.

Hi, some of my books have been split across "two authors" due to an additional space in the initials for a couple of them.

I'm listed as both Q.R. Braddock and Q. R. Braddock.

There are two books on Q. R. Braddock with the space that I'd like merged to the Q.R. Braddock author without the space. Ideally I'd have them with a half space, but that just isn't very searchable. :)

I have done #46 manually as there was only one book that needed moving.

For the past 5 years, my books have been posted under my author profile E.M. Lynley, though my pen name has no punctuation (EM Lynley) due to an error by the first publishers who did use punctuation.

Now someone else has been adding my titles under "EM Lynley" so the ratings/reviews/etc are separated and not connected to my author account.

I'm not sure what is the best solution here. Newer readers know me as EM Lynley, but older GR users know me as E.M. Lynley.
