When you think of Clamp, which series is the first to pop into your head?

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
Mine is Chobits. It was huge in my group of friends in high school. So I always think of this series when I hear Clamp.

probably Card Captor Sakura. Its not my favorite, but its the first I ever read by Clamp.

card captures was one of my first animes. though i can't say that i saw a bunch of it. i have one of the books, but i kept putting off getting others. i might have to pick it up again. it is classic clamp after all.

i downloaded half of the series, then bought the other half. i sort of wish that i bought the entire series when it was available because now i just have the last half.

i just finished book 4. the anime follows pretty close to the manga. it's nice when that happens because you could just do one or the other. but i'm glad that i found it at the library. it's a decent read

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
sorry about the confusion. i should really speak/type more clearly.

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod
oh, can you not buy Chobits anymore? You might find some old books off eBay...

message 9: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
you can. i saw it in borders last week. so it's still pretty mainstream.

message 10: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
you can find chi pictures everywhere. they're done quite beautifully.

message 11: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
my grandma had one! they're really neat. she even had barbie patterns to trace with it.

message 12: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
you could just use tracing paper. but that could get expensive. but a lightbox/tracing table would most certainly be useful. i can never seem to draw something the same way twice. so i gave up on drawing comics a long time ago.

message 13: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
i'm really out of practice with drawing anyway. i used to at least doodle a lot when writing notes, i barely even do that anymore. so now, not only do my pictures never look the same, but i'm not as good as i used to be.

message 14: by Hylian Princess , Hylian-Chan (last edited Aug 02, 2009 01:48PM) (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod
I want a light box too!
For some reason, all my drawing look the exact same. Like the same person, if you know what i mean. But only when I'm doodling. But, If I make up a character, I can't ever draw it twice. Its rather annoying.

I think you're right.

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
whenever i feel that way, i just have to put it away for a couple of days. i often feel that way when making floral arrangements. when i'm working on it, i think it's the ugliest thing to have graced the planet, but when it's put in the back for a bit and i see it a couple of days later, it looks a lot better. no, my coworkers don't fix them, but they look better when i leave it alone for a while. it might be that you're just too close to your work at the time.

message 17: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
maybe, but i doubt it. they also don't know what you had envisioned before creating it. so it might look good, but look nothing like your goal was and therefore you would be disappointed in the finished product. that also happens to me a lot.

message 18: by Hylian Princess , Hylian-Chan (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod
yeah, I can never make it look like the picture in my head. :(

message 19: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
i gave up trying to draw things like they appear in my head. my hands just can't draw what i imagine. now, if i could only imagine at my artistry level, i wouldn't feel so bad.

message 20: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
i hate classes like that. totally doesn't help when you finally do something somewhat decent, and you realize that it's still nowhere in comparison.

message 21: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments lol! we're talking about art???

anyways, the one that pops up into my head is sakura the cardcaptor or tsubasa even though i never really liked tsubasa

message 22: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
it's just word-association. i always think chobits when i hear clamp. i think it was because it was the first series that i saw and knew clamp authored it.

message 23: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments lol, have you read any other manga???

i LOVED Zodiac P.I. by Natsumi Ando, i also want to read her kitchen princess

i also liked guru guru pon-chan, and peach girl was ohkay, even though it was a bit.............

message 24: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod

message 26: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
well, i've been buying manga since high school. compared to most of my friends, i got a late start.

message 27: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
yeah, i counted like 340...
ug, i think i feel a little sick. lol. but i normally buy with some sort of deal, and some were gifted. so it's not like i spent 3000 on my collection. eh, that made me feel only slightly better.

but you know what sucks, even with me having read all of those, there are still tons i haven't read.

message 28: by Hylian Princess , Hylian-Chan (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod

message 30: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
lol. i took my boyfriend's massive bookcase. before it was divided between two bookcases and a crate. but yeah, when i started buying them, there was only one shelf at barnes n nobles of them. that's when some friends told me about borders and their selection, and now i next to never go into barnes n nobles.

message 31: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments borders???

message 32: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
the bookstore. i spelled that right, lol. i do also go to a comic bookstore too, but not as often. the one i like tends to have regular business hours, and lets face it, i don't get there until after business hours.

message 33: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments is borders a bookstore that is only around where you live locally or country-wide???

message 34: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
it's a nation-wide chain.

message 35: by Hylian Princess , Hylian-Chan (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod
do they have more mangas?

message 36: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments huh, i've never heard of borders..........

message 37: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments i read a few books of peach girl, but i kinda thought they were just too....ehhh, whats the word?

teen?

message 38: by Hylian Princess , Hylian-Chan (new)

Hylian Princess (hylianprincess) | 400 comments Mod
I've been meaning to read that one

message 39: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments its weird

message 40: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments its ohkay i guess

message 41: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
uh, i live in tx, and they are everywhere! i haven't been to a barnes n nobles in a long time, but once they caught up, i would say their selection is about equal. borders was just ontop of things faster.

i felt so bad for toji! he was such a rebound boy. when you read them all together, momo comes off as a tad flakey. but yeah, peach girl got me to read, so i guess i can't really complain.

message 42: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments haha, i love to read

i live in oregon.....

message 43: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
that must be fun! i bet it rains there too. i miss the rain, and it being less than 100 degrees outside. i could water twice a dry and all of my plants would still be dried out.

oh, i totally agree with you about peach girl. it's completely "teen." there was really no other way to describe it. it was really hard re-reading it last month. i found it at half price books, and remembered that i loved that series in high school. i can't say that i love it anymore.

message 44: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments lol, i love oregon

i personally love rain more than sun so yeah...

and winter is sooooo much better than summer

the only good thing about summer is no school and im able to go see my cousins!!!!

message 45: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
i get cold at pretty much any temp below 80. lol. i guess that comes with the 100+ territory. makes great thunderstorms though. well, that is assuming that the clouds that didn't instantly skip the raining step and went straight back to evaporating. oh, and there's star gazing and watching falling stars, fireflies, etc. lots of fun

message 46: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments lol, skip raining??? hah

message 47: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
yep. it's like it gets so hot that clouds no longer form.

message 48: by *Sklip* (new)

*Sklip* (stalkerninja) | 113 comments lol

message 49: by Starbubbles, event coordinator type person (new)

Starbubbles | 649 comments Mod
yeah, every time i visit my parents, i don't even bother packing short shelves, i pack sweaters and long sleave shirts no matter what time of year it is.

you really do have to be in a certain mood to read peach girl. wiley kylie had way more depth than toji. he was totally a rebound for momo. i think he got a massive short stick in the series, but then again, he comes off being sex obesessed at points. so the sympathy for me can only go so far.

but there are lots of series you have to be in a certain mood to read.
