Besides Middlesex what do you plan to read this month?

For me it will be to finish By Blood We Live by Glen Duncan, Alif the Unseen by G. Willow Wilson. Then maybe Bad Wolf by Nele Neuhaus and The Wives of Los Alamos by TaraShea Nesbit

MK (wisny) | 120 comments I have to finish And the Mountains Echoed still. Then yes, Middlesex, and some more:
- Neil Gaiman,
- Douglas Adams,
- and I'd like to fit in another John le Carre 'George Smiley' book.

And, some club reads,
- Ireland,
- Labor Day,
- Ancillary Justice,
- The Name of the Wind,
- The Scarlet Letter,
- A Passage to India,
... not sure what else.

I'm enjoying it so far, I good cyberpunk/urban fantasy blend

message 5: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (littlebunnylibrary) I am still reading Jane Eyre and The Complete Maus, both for the easy challenge. I'm also book-buddying for another group and we are going to read The Small Hand by Susan Hill. I loved The Woman in Black so hope this is a good one too!

I would really like to join in with Middlesex but just not sure I'll have time - oh the woes of being a super-slow reader :)

message 12: by Philippa (new)

Philippa | 100 comments I'm currently working on The Luminaries, which does feel a tiny bit like wading through treacle. There IS an interesting and complicated story going on underneath it all, but it could have been told in fewer words. Patience and perseverance are required I think.

Once I'm finished I'm planning to tackle Middlesex (which only seems reasonable seeing as I did nominate it!) After that I'm not really sure, one of my groups is reading Winter's Tale which needs knocking off my pile at some point, but I'm not sure I can face another mammoth book in such a short space of time.

message 13: by Tory (new)

Tory (torycarter) | 14 comments I'm planning to read Death Du Jour by Kathy Reichs and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Larrson, but that was before I joined this book club.

message 14: by MK (new)

MK (wisny) | 120 comments Still haven't started Middlesex yet, but I will. However, I just started The Yiddish Policemen's Union, by Michael Chabon. Good so far, only just about 15% of the way in, though.

message 15: by Mish (new)

Mish | 92 comments I'm currently reading Shotgun Lovesongs: A Novel. I don’t like it so far but I will give it one more night and hopefully something will convince me to continue.

I've just finished Falling which was a terrifying but amazing book about a plane crash and the lives of 4 people before and after this harrowing event.

And then I plan to read Until You're Mine: A Novel and Ruby: A Novel next.

Karen I am currently listening to Atonement and enjoying it - first audiobook I have listened to in years. I am also reading As I Lay Dying by William Faulkner and really liking that too. Recently finished The Sound and the Fury and loved it so I thought I would read some more Faulkner.
