A tip for which you'll thank me: Jump on Smashwords' Read an e-book bandwagon right now! Sign in to your Dashboard on Smashwords, at the top of the page see a table of management pages, go to "Manage site-wide promotions", and put one or more of your books into the promotion with a discount or for free. Below are details of further promotion we undertook.

Mick, the CoolMain designer, just called me and sent me the collated Twitter messages below. He posted them on Twitter and on relevant Facebook pages a few hours ago, not expecting anything, and I also saw some and retweeted them, and suddenly there are sales, including of the book Gemma just discounted instead of making it free like the others, because it is nearly new, and there was a pre-order discount on Apple until last week, so we don't want to upset those customers. Also sales of related books.

It is not clear whether the sales are from Smashwords' efforts or ours. Frankly, I failed to find out books in the sales when I signed into Smashwords, but I may just be ignorant of how one actually searches on Smashwords. I sometimes can't find my own books on Apple's iTunes either...

The Read an e-book Facebook page is so top-heavy with paid-for reserved spots that it is useless to post there; your posts just disappear off the bottom of the placeholders. Mick hasn't used the hashtag #ebookweek either to avoid our pages being overrun with rubbish and irritating the writers who own the pages, but the hashtag is all over Twitter so someone thinks it worthwhile. I told him we'll give it a go tomorrow.
