At this point, I'm so confused because I really don't like books where it's scifi or dystopian or future??? time period where everything is different yet no one world builds!

This is exactly what's happened here, at least for me. Kang hasn't explained the world at all -- we just kind of dive in? Maybe there's an explanation at the end? (hide spoiler)]

Can I just ask what the heck is going on with Cy? Who is Kw? Who's Ana? What the heck have they done to Dyl!?

Cy seems like a huge jerk that's going to turn out to be her love interest and I hate that trope. The, oh he's misunderstood or something bad has happened so he's a douchecanoe but he eventually changes with her love type of thing. Nope, not feeling it.

I dont hate or love Zelia she's floating in limbo right now and I don't hate it. I don't like how trusting she is of Kw because he's obviously the bad guy. Although if I were desperate to get my little sister -- idk I can justify her actions. (hide spoiler)]

Cy and Z seem to have a little bit of insta-love. They kind of just gravitated together but ??? I don't know, the deep rooted romantic in squeals at the romance of it but the realist doesn't really like it.

Like Z's personality, I don't hate it but I don't love it.

The whole bargaining thing I don't get at all - what how did the trade happen? Is he there forever? What is happening.

I don't know if I should read the second one. I want to know if they get Cy back. Is this a series or duology?
