The narrative is jumping all over the place, and we have a story in story, as well as alternate history/universe, I guess, and I'm finding myself wishing it would settle down a bit and just tell the story.
Anyone else reading this?

Anyway, I agree with your comments. I did like it, but I didn't feel as engaged as I did with her Kitty books.
Oh, and I found a copy of After the Golden Age at the Dollar General not too long ago, for $3.

I actually liked the way Vaughn wrote jumping around from story to story. Often I don't, but here it directly contributed to the vibe of Evie's story and to the concept of how the magic worked and how the immortals lived through time. It was discordant on purpose....
A question. If Evie had been more pragmatic, less emotional, and (view spoiler)

Otherwise, the story was... OK. I expected more and better, and thought the ending was incredibly rushed and convenient.
I rated it 2 stars for the book and story, but dropped it to 1 because I was pissed about the spoiler.
