Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Hi all,
As decided earlier this week in the HF thread, putting up this book for discussion. Anirudh has already read this, I am 80% through and hopefully the others led by Manju and Utkarsh will follow suit.
A very fast paced, interesting book, the more so because i have only heard of Genghis Khan and his cruelty and this is the first time i am foraying into the Mongolian territory.

Wolf Of The Plains (Conqueror #1)
by Conn Iggulden

In the opening book of the 'Conqueror' series Conn Iggulden presents a story of heroism and adventure, of a boy on the Mongolian plains who had to become a man too soon, and of a family and a tribe who had to learn to win to survive.
Paperback, 578 pages
Published 2007 by Harper Collins

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Is Mongolia in China? The Mongols seem.very alien from chinese race, though in the latter half of the book, chinese charecters appear.

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) China and Mongolia are neighbors. mongol used to attack china.

Alluru Sunitha | 3 comments I read about chenzis khan.he was a notorious fighter.he used to slaughter who ever came against him.it was written that almost the population of world was halved during his conquests. He butchered people like animals.he never used to spare women .he used to assault them indiscrimately.it seems one in 7 males in this world has his gene

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Alluru, I too have heard of his cruelty and womanizing habits. (Not exactly, but more of a desire to fill the world with his tribe). But here he's a much gentler version. As he's only in his late teens, I have to wait and see how he evolves.

Was a fast paced read. There is an explanation by the author in the end, separating fact from fiction. it was very enlightening.

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) i started it. prologue and first chapter is good but second chapter is little confusing. couldn't figure out whose POV i am seeing.

Anirudh So how is it going?

Utkarsh, the story gets more interesting in the second half :)

Anirudh Where is the discussion?

Ahtims (embeddedinbooks) | 2936 comments Nobody was discussin. So i too kept mum. It was a very interesting, happening red. Enjoyed book 1.

Utkarsh (utkarsh12) I didn't like the book much. it was interesting because it is a part of history but the book was not written well. I could never relate to characters.

Anirudh The writing is not very poetic. But i liked the story a lot :)
