I've been enjoying this at a leisurely pace, but with Cibola Burn coming out in June, I better finish this and Abaddon's Gate by June. So I picked it up this weekend and made a small push to get to the halfway mark.

I'm surprised I had stopped where I did. The proto monster in the ship is pretty scary in an Alien kind of way, though other than that there wasn't a lot of immediate, grab your attention conflict going on. Bobbie and Ava's POV sections came to a nice twist in the last few pages, so I'm more engaged about their roles. Nice job, Corey.

While this series it tauted for being more realistic, I'm not the kind of reader that enjoys reading all the science details about the spaceship and physics of survival. That could be why I have read so casually, I tend to get bored in those details and put the book down.

So, that's what I'm thinking halfway through. The politics are becoming a little clearer now that Ava has figured out the spy. Props to Corey for making the proto monster such a big threat. Did they really remove every piece from their ship? I'm surprised they are still flying.
