Harry Potter discussion

What are your thoughts about the upgrade? Do you like it or no? I'm really on the fence. As of right now I am not a fan of it at all.

Not a fan yet. But it seems that they will keep updating and bring back the stuff we love.

I hope so. I was hoping we could still log in under our name. I wasn't aware that they were taking away our user names.

I wasn't either! I though old users would be able to keep their information. We lost our house and our wands and I'm kind of upset.

Same here! I don't like how they took that away from us. I was reading on the new site and it said they are going to bring the sorting hat back eventually. I want my log in and my wand! I don't like how we can't log into the site..it's weird..haha

Not liking it at all :( I know they are continuing to update the site, but it seems a lot of the "new JKR writings" that were introduced on the old site are now unavailable. The ones I can find are here https://www.pottermore.com/writing-by... I'm sure the rest are out there somewhere, but the writings were my favourite parts of Pottermore and I liked having them all together for me to browse through when I logged in. Hopefully they'll re-upload all of them eventually...

I wasn't done reading all of the writings from the old site. It sucks that I can't finish them. I don't like the layout of the new site, it's too much.

I like the clean layout (someone tweeted it's now Buzzfeed for HP, I say it's tumblr, LOL) and new artwork (like the background of Fawkes (I assume) as soon as you load the site--beautiful!), but as for the format of the site...nope. Not happy.

Yes! I like the artwork too! I read somewhere that it was like Buzzfeed! I don't know how true that is! I hate the format..it drives me crazy. I want my login and my wand back! haha! Then I will be happy!

I feel like they should have kept the old members houses and wands and have the new members get sorted and what not. I really don't like how they are doing this!

It seems that Pottermore, at the moment, is becoming more of a promotional site, with 'Fantastic Beasts' getting into production. And then they just threw in little bonus tidbits from JKR to try and keep it like the old site. I wish it was the other way around.

There are indeed differences that are both positive and negative with the new Pottermore. I do love how they are giving all of these new systems on the sight: discovering the new magical schools around the world, finding out your Patronus, etc. What I miss about in the old version: it was as if you were in the books, actually exploring the world with the Golden Trio's life. You get the real feel of what it's like to be a student and yet read the books all over again. You created potions and had duels...and those are the parts that I really miss

I agree with Hannah (can I point out we both have the same logo without realising #ravenclaw4life ) I miss being able to duel and make potions but I have to admit there were a lot of dodgy people and comments on the old one and the new one is so much more informative and visually impeccable, i too miss being able to explore the books p.s my patronus is a deer hound

I liked the old one better.

I guess it's good for me because the old one wasn't available in our country.

I liked the old one, this one changed my house & patronus.
