One of my favorites! My appreciation for this one was enhanced the last time we read this

I read this in April 2015, I look forward for a second reading with everyone.

looking forward to it, a book i've had for a while, but have not read as of yet.

Over the Summer, I happened to pick up a copy of the audiobook on cd at a thrift store. I also have a hardcover copy of the book. I will probably be reading a bit later this month.

Is this a good way to start the discussion, I read 50+ pages. How did Junior Cain kill his wife, Namoi? How could Bartholomew Lampion be born in a car crash leaving mom, dad dead?

Bartholomew was born after the crash which left his father dead, but his mother in bad shape. She was so out of it when he was born that she thought he was actually stillborn.

As I started reading this it started flooding back into my memory so I had to check when I first read it....2001! Yikes! Glad I found this group!

I'm really enjoying the Edom character. Dean really has a way with words when describing "the big one" especially since I live in California! I am referring to Chapter 24. Hopefully that leaves out any spoilers. So many little stories woven together....amazing.

I am loving how all the different people weave into a common thread and I love the uniqueness of each character.

Junior Cain is freaky, isn't he? I figured that I would have to play 'guess the psychopath' a little longer in this book.

I love Dean Koontz's unique names. Seraphim, Celestina, and Edom. I don't know where he gets these names.

Even the names that are common are not that common, Agnes, Bartholomew and of course the villain himself Enoch. I also love some of the minor characters - Nolly the detective, the pharmacist, the doctors regarding Barty's eyes.

Reading your comments are making me consider moving FTCOHE further up in my reading line. Thank you. Looking forward to re-reading this masterpiece. It's been a while. Maybe I will have to start this week. I have a phrase from the book tattooed on me: "This Momentous Day" :-)

Right upper thigh part of a bigger piece I had done. I also have the phrases "One Door Away From Heaven" and "By the Light of the Moon" tattooed on my upper arms. I am getting a new tattoo today. Haven't gotten one since December which is my longest stretch since I started collecting tattoos.

Wow Dustin. What a nice tribute to some of his best books!!! I have also loved his unique yet perfect character names!! It makes me smile to watch all of you here read and enjoy these books.....I have read his books from this time in his style and they are in my bookshelves because they are all favorites forever!! Lol

Currently Reading

I loved this book so much but for some reason it's hard to write about it on here. It was such an excellent blending of characters and plot all wonderfully intertwined and Koontz uses the very theme he is writing about. Each character contributes something to the story in a special way.

Started reading last night. Was not expecting that Junior, bad Junior...

Sharon, I know what you mean. Even though I read this once before, I was still shocked by Junior in the beginning.

Thank you to everyone who voted for From the Corner of His Eye. I am so happy to re-experience this novel. I hadn't realized until I looked at my GR history but I have read this every five years: 2005, 2010, 2015. This is my third time reading FTCOHE and I a enjoying it so much that like One Door Away From Heaven, I will need o increase the rating to 5 stars and make room for it among my top five favorite Koontz books :-) I'm glad I got "This Momentous Day" tattooed onto my leg.

This book actually changed one of my habits. When I awake each morning I say a quick prayer thanking God for the day. I have started saying "Thank you God, for this momentous day!"

I am finding this Koontz book is a thriller theme chase (more than horror).
The chase character is out to murder due his past and a theme of emotions with mother/child "from the corner of his eye"? Connection between many characters are difficult.

I believe Junior is the common link between characters but I am still reading this book. I'm about half way through the book.

I am more than a third of the way through, but not half-way yet :-)

No You have to do the Goodreads spoiler thing so only the people who are ready to see the spoiler part can click on it and see it. Otherwise it's hidden.

No. Their's actually a way to type it right here. I'm trying to remember or figer it out. Get back to you.

Mary the way to do it is:
To insert a “view spoiler” into your text type in the word spoiler between a greater-than sign and a less-than sign < > and then type your desired hidden text. When finished, type in the word /spoiler between the greater-than and less-than signs < > (note: now there is a forward-slash in front of the word).

I never remember the right way to do it myself so I had to find it. It's really cool the way it works. See for yourself.
