Has anyone read any other book by her? And if yes did you like it?
I've read The Element of Fire, last month's group read, City of Bones and also the Raksura trilogy which is outstanding.

I love the Raksura books. I have both of the short story/novella collections as well, and need to carve out time to read them.

City of Bones is one of my favorite books by Wells.

Yes, The Element of Fire was much less polished. I used to like it more, but as her writing has improved, I have found it harder to get into when I pick it up again.

I started listening to the audiobook last night and agree with you. She sounds more like she's reading a religious text rather than a novel.

I read The Death of the Necromancer and I found it an excellently plotted page turner with a fascinating subject matter (necromancers!)
I'm close to being finished with Wheel of the Infinite and I love the (west?) Asian-esque setting and the unusual plot line. The religion and tying in of the spirit world is interesting, and I just reached a part that became uncanny valley in a really cool way. There were some slow parts in the middle but I just reached a fascinating turn that's keeping me reading.

Started this earlier, it's great. I'm supposed to be sleeping but I don't want to put it down! I don't know what's happening in a really interesting sort of way!

Maskelle is a great character--haunted by her past, yet willing to help strangers. And Rien is a great hero--smart and talented, something of a fish out of water, yet still strong in character.
I was just thinking that I was looking forward to bedtime to read this.
I'll meet you on the finished thread really really soon!
