In January, we are beginning a new buddy read journey through the entire In Death series starting, of course, with Naked in Death. I'm excited to start this marathon read again as I still get goose bumps just thinking about reading Naked In Death. Our buddy read will read & discuss one book a month, taking our time while thoroughly devouring each book. We invite and welcome all readers to join in, whether you are new to the series or doing yet another reread.

You can help us plan for this Series Buddy Read by sharing any thoughts and ideas with us here. If there are areas or aspects of the series and/or each individual book that you would like to see us concentrate on, please share them below.

For example, would you like to choose different characters and do a character study of sorts? Follow their development after introduction throughout the series as our buddy read evolves? How about a case study? The futuristic aspects?

I want this to be your buddy read. Share your ideas & let's tear each book/character/case apart and get down to the nitty gritty.

Help me plan for this buddy read by giving me your ideas...we can do anything you all want to do. We'll take your thoughts & ideas and come up with a plan - some guidelines to get us started.

Phrynne | 366 comments This is exciting! It is so long since I read Naked in Death I can't even remember it! I never seem to find time to do rereads but this will get me going:)

In2books (in2book) | 1 comments I'm looking forward to this series read. It will be my first buddy read for a whole series. I've read all the In Death books except for a couple of later .5 novellas.

I like the idea of the more in depth study. I would like to see a study on Eve and Roarke's relationship itself; the progression, milestones, highs and lows, etc.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Great idea, In2books! So glad you're joining the buddy read.

SB*needs low angst books* How cool! I must say they are fun and I love getting others views of things.

Kay (kkfar) I am looking forward to the reading of the series in a group discussion. Can't wait till January.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I think we'll have fun! Happy to have you all join in. I welcome your ideas on areas of concentration...feel free to share your thoughts.

SB*needs low angst books* Well I would like to look at how each character came into the series and how they have changed not only in their life and personalities but how they changed the series too. Along with the changes and growth of Eve and Roarke of course.

Maybe even highlighting some of the best quotes, funniest moments and moments that moved you.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Definitely planning on doing some Character studies - following them from introduction on throughout the series as they develop & interact with others - maybe with a "check in" at the end of each book.

Phrynne | 366 comments Will we be including the novellas? Must admit I have not read any of those!

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Yes...we'll read in order including all novellas...

Phrynne | 366 comments More to look forward to:)

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I find most of the novellas to be quite good with a few of them being favorites. I'm looking forward to them all. :)

In2books (in2book) | 1 comments Speaking of the Novellas... Are the last two available anywhere alone without buying the anthology?

Not yet! I suspect she's waiting for the next one to create an omnibus volume of three:)

Unless I've somehow missed one, all the novellas are available on audio through audible.com - including the latest. Plus you get the wonderful reading of Susan Erickson to bring them to life for you.

Judy (bigfootgal) | 166 comments Count me in for the Buddy read. I usually read the comments on them but have already listened to the books and am neck deep in others. This time I want to plan ahead and listen along with the group while we wait for the next new one.

Great! Glad you'll be joining us.

Michelle | 2651 comments Late to the party but I'm here now. As a member of the previous buddy read thank from the bottom of my heart for starting again. To those who will be new to this ? Welcome and know we are all fans and Eve and Roarke addicts. Besides I'm asking angels and fairies all if they could please make me my very own Roarke. Lol.

For my 5c worth I think the cases should be a backdrop. i love all the suggestion already made and can't really think of anything to add that isn't a tangent off those suggestions. But we've got some mo this left till January, something might pop into my head.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Michelle, I hadn't given much thought to another one until we started talking about the "end" of the current buddy read & everyone seemed a little sad about it. So...I thought maybe, just maybe, I could lead us through again. And then you & Penni twisted my arm until I gave in! LOL Seriously, I'm excited to start over with a stronger than ever focus on the characters & stories.

Post any ideas for areas of focus. I welcome all comments, thoughts, & ideas.

It's only fair Sandra lol. Turn about and all that.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Why Penni...whatever do you mean? *batting very southern eyelashes over clueless eyes* LOL!!

Michelle | 2651 comments Penni do you know what's she's talking about.

Vera M. | 446 comments I'd like to suggest also keeping track of those Eve metaphors through the books.
Oh oh how about Candy Thief pop ins, follow that trail and see what we can come up with with suspects as we read through!

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I am planning for us to track her metaphors for sure! I hadn't thought about the candy thief capers though! Great idea, Vera!

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 789 comments Since I've only read the first book (loved the audio BTW), I'm thrilled to join this BR.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I'm thrilled to have you, Karen! This will be an awesome way to read this series for the first time. We're going to have fun & push the boundaries a little bit with this series BR.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 789 comments I kept meaning to get back to it. This will be a great way to do so. Can't wait.

Dawn | 3250 comments Oh I love the idea of tracking the process of the candy thief from the beginning.

message 34: by Judy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Judy (bigfootgal) | 166 comments Yes, I always think I'm going to take notes about the thief and Eve's funny sayings but, I forget. Maybe this time around I'll get motivated.

message 35: by Vera (new) - rated it 5 stars

Vera M. | 446 comments I am totally like that too Judy! Get caught up in the book, forget to do it. I have almost all of them collected on my kindle now, so maybe this time through i can highlight while I read through!

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
One of the awesome things about reading on my Kindle is the ability to highlight & add notes. Otherwise, I'd forget way too much! ;)

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 9 comments I started listening to the series on audio book later in the series so will participate in BR with the audio!

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Great Kris! I'm so looking forward to it!

Kris (My Novelesque Life) (mynovelesquelife) | 9 comments Thanks, Sandra for always making me excited about buddy reads here!

Ness (ness-reads) | 222 comments I havn't tried audio so far..do you only listen to them or read also on your kindle?

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I've gone through the series both ways, Ness...Kindle & Audio. I love both ways honestly. I will say the audios of the In Death series are awesome! Susan Ericksen is wonderful narrating it. I also like doing them on Kindle because I tend to highlight a lot.

I'm thinking I'm going to need new colour because my highlights are colour co-ordinated. Things like Eve's metaphors one colour, intro of new character, Summerset punches, and of course anything and everything worth highlighting.

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
Wow - that's organized and very thorough, Michelle. Great idea!

message 46: by Michelle (last edited Dec 27, 2015 07:05AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Michelle | 2651 comments That was the thought but sometimes I was reading so hard I forgot to highlight. Or what color was what. But we starting again so I'm ready

Sandra Hoover (sandrahoover) | 11211 comments Mod
I'm going to read this time through just because I want to make note of so many things. I love the audios (& will do some) but I love the Kindle ebook because I can make notes & HL as I go. I sometimes read with a paper notebook beside me, but with Kindle, I can do it all right on the screen. I'll probably be doing a combination of all the above.

Sara Kate (sarakate1509) I'll be joining this! Excited to read with everyone. I have read the first one a month or so ago and will pick up with book 2

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've been thinking of keeping a list of all the societal changes, laws, and technology of the future that happen in the books. Lately, with all these shootings, I kind of wish we'd get that gun ban in. Guess we have to go through the Urban Wars first.

Emerson Hawthorne | 175 comments I would like to join this buddy read. Looking forward to the discussion!
