April Review-Copy Clean-Up Challenge

This is a reading challenge that will run from April 1st to April 30th. Results will be announced on May 1st 2014.

Please note - this is not the main group challenge for April, this is a challenge for those people who are struggling with those review piles! Jalyn will be running a seperate challenge for everyone else so not to worry!

This challenge is simple, and has one aim - get those review copies read! This obviously means that you will have to have review copies to take part in this challenge - either from Netgalley, Edelweiss, Publisher, Author, ARR programme etc.

Normal challenge guidlines and rules apply.

points:
1 point for each book read and reviewed
1 point for a buddy read (feel free to use our Wanted: Buddy Reads ARC thread if you need to - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... )
Equaliser points (applied at the end) - 5 additional points for every 1000 pages read.

Note:
*Books need to either be review copies, or I will also allow books which are first/second in a series before a review copy that you need to read, so for example - I have Sweet Reckoning (The Sweet Trilogy, #3) by Wendy Higgins , so I would also need to read Sweet Evil (The Sweet Trilogy, #1) by Wendy Higgins & Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2) by Wendy Higgins first, so those would also count.
* Books must be at least 100 pages in lenth
* Books must be read between April 1st and April 30th (inclusively)
*You can find our regular challenge rules here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

There will be one winner who gets the most points, but obviously everyone wil benefit from getting those review piles down!

Good luck Everybody! Let's get those review piles beaten into submission ☺

Sign-ups and Questions go here, I will open a seperate thread for reviews.
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Addition - you can also earn points if you are reading books with someone else that are on their review copy list. Eg; if I need to read Sweet Peril (The Sweet Trilogy, #2) by Wendy Higgins and someone reads it with me, they will also get points for the review and buddy read the same as if it was on their review copy list.

Jenni -
The challenge is for people who have review copies - books that they have been given for free from publishers or authors, in exchange for writing a review. So books which you have gotten from places like Netgalley, edelweiss, or even review programmes in other groups etc.

The idea is, that in April people will spend time reading these review copies. Normal challenge rules will then apply - 1 point for a review, 1 extra point for a buddy read.

You do need to have review copies to join in though ☺
If you don't have review copies, Jalyn will be doing the main group reading challenge sign-ups shortly ☺

Great ☺ There will be lots of review copies crossed off in April!

message 14: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (manka23) | 2337 comments Oh awesome. Pretty much all I've read lately is for R4R programs or books that I review for an outside reviewing site. The books that I get for the outside website will be reviewed there. When I review it on goodreads it will pretty much be a link to the website where my review is posted. Does that still count?

Rachmi | 4882 comments How about a book that isn't an ARC for me but it's an ARC for other? Can I include it for this challenge? For example I didn't request Stolen Songbird (The Malediction Trilogy, #1) by Danielle L. Jensen but am going to buy it when it released while I think there are member who have it as an ARC.

Just so everybody knows, I've added this addition to the rules, so that if you buddy read a book from someone else's list, you get points as well ☺

Abi (abi_gr) | 27659 comments I've managed to get most of mine read over the past few months.

Review copies i have:

Blur (Blur Trilogy #1) by Steven James The Rain by Virginia Bergin This Is How It Ends by Jen Nadol Legacy Code by Autumn Kalquist Adaptation (Adaptation, #1) by Malinda Lo

Then maybe - Tabula Rasa by Kristen Lippert-Martin Of Monsters and Madness by Jessica Verday
Because they're available for download on edelweiss.

Then i have these to read so i can see if want to request the sequel on edelweiss -
Born of Illusion (Born of Illusion, #1) by Teri Brown Mila 2.0 (MILA 2.0, #1) by Debra Driza Rush (The Game, #1) by Eve Silver In the After (In the After #1) by Demitria Lunetta A Dawn Most Wicked (Something Strange and Deadly, #0.5) by Susan Dennard Something Strange and Deadly (Something Strange and Deadly, #1) by Susan Dennard A Darkness Strange and Lovely (Something Strange and Deadly, #2) by Susan Dennard

That's fine ☺ I thought of that, it isn't really fair if you buddy read with someone but don't get points because it isn't on your shelf, so we'll have the same rule as for the shelf clearing challenge - if you buddy read a book with someone that is on their shelf, then you get points for the review and buddy read too ☺

Rachmi wrote: "Sarah, I can read Hooked with you but it isn't an ARC (this is the same case as my message #23)."

Okay ☺ If we buddy Hooked you get the points too as its on my shelf. I have to read it because I have an ARC of the second one.

I've tried to tweak the rules so that its fair for everybody, but if anybody has any other questions feel free to ask ☺

It's because I'm pre-approved for HarperCollins on Edelweiss. They gave out pre-approvals to a whole bunch of bloggers last september/october. I was one of the last to get it, and I really didn't expect it because they didn't always approve me before. I think it's because of the length of time I've had the blog.
