Couldn't agree more! I can't believe I didn't start reading her books earlier, but I've just started city of ashes. I'm so in love wit Jace, oops :)

Sam (readwithfrizz) I got the first two for my birthday.. But haven't yet read them, my friends said it wasn't that good, but maybe I'll give them a go

Well I've read some reviews and you either hate or love the books, I guess there's no in between. You should give the books a chance and judge by yourself. :)

Iben | 14 comments I've read all the published books in TMI and I'm just waiting for the last one to be published. I can't even begin to describe how great I find them. I've also read The Infernal Devices and in my opinion, they're better than TMI. So I'd say give them a read and see if you like them. :)

Ella Pound (ellapound) | 1 comments Yes, yes, yes - read TID. I loved the prequel series and am currently trying to get through TMI, but I keep picking up other books! I agree, they are better than TMI, and I especially love Jem and Will's friendship. :D

Ebru (eybrues) | 16 comments Emah wrote: "read the first three, madly in love with them! it's great, and i think the movie adaptation wasn't so bad. mostly because of Jamie Campbell Bower, he was an amazing Jace.."
yes, I couldn't think of a better actor than Jamie tbh, he was perfect

Joyce Gerhardt | 7 comments Currently reading book 5. City of Lost Souls. I am in love with every single character from the books and the movie. Especially Jace and Jocelyn :)

X

LeeEl | 28 comments I'm a HUGE fan. I love them! Cassandra Clare just gets better and better at writing as the series goes on, and she's pretty good to begin with. I have to say though, although I love both the original and the prequel series equally, the prequel series is better written by far. She's had a lot of time to get better by then, and some scenes brought me to tears… which doesn't happen often for me.

As for the movie… well, I watched it with two of my friends, and it was so cheesy we couldn't stop laughing and probably pissed off everyone in the audience. It was honestly a bad movie but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The only casting I was happy with was Simon, because I have an unhealthy obsession with him and I really think that the actor got him.

I can't wait for the new book to come out! I just preordered a signed copy for 17 bucks, it's a good deal, you guys should check it out on Barnes and Noble's website!

Haha it's so fun because we are both obsessed and we keep fangirling in class.. I think our friends are getting a bit annoyed by our 'Jace' obsession :)
love how we have the same taste in books xo

Hannah Anderson (hannahjanderson) | 5 comments I'm only half way through city of bones and I've already started obsessively drawing runes on my arms

Emma Dalby | 4 comments I love them, I'm currently Re-reading TMI, and I've just started TID because I wanted to make sure id read them all before Heavenly Fire comes out :)

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments Haven't read any of these yet, doesn't really appeal to me. Why type of genre is it? Is it worth reading?

Zahro Sophie wrote: "Haven't read any of these yet, doesn't really appeal to me. Why type of genre is it? Is it worth reading?"

Haven't read them either but from what I've gathered it's fantasy. Urban fantasy? I don't know.
If you go on its page the genres are listed to the side and the easiest way to see if a book's worth reading is to read reviews from someone with similar taste in books/opinions. :)

message 20: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Kaelin (sophiekaelin) | 20 comments Thank you :) I'll have a look at them now.

message 21: by Mollie (new)

Mollie | 6 comments I can't get through the first book which is frustrating as everyone says the series picks up after City of Bones!:/x

Chelsea | 6 comments I read both TMI and TDA, I love them both but do prefer TDA, I feel cassandra Clare's writing gets progressively better as you go through each one of her books from earliest to most recent. As for TMI I never really had a problem getting into the series but if your hesitant about reading, it does pick up a lot. Although maybe that's just a biased opinion as I adore them but I definitely recommend picking them up:) ps: malec is my otp

Molly | 19 comments I've read all of TMI and TID so far! I definitely prefer The Infernal Devices to TMI, but they're both really good. TMI kind of lagged for me a bit around the 4th book, but it picked up again by the 5th so I'm pretty excited for the 6th! But I loved each book in The Infernal Devices and I loved all of the characters so much. I shipped Will and Tessa but I love Jem too so it was hard! But I really enjoy both series. Has anyone seen the City of Bones movie? I haven't yet, but I haven't really heard great things about it. I like Jaime Cambell Bower in Sweeney Todd, but he wasn't what I pictured as Jace. But I didn't see him act it yet so I might be wrong!

Lindsey | 3 comments I just finished book three and I'm onto book four this series is awesome

Emily Marian Stone (Emariane) | 4 comments I've only read the first Infernal Devices which I enjoyed but so far I prefer the Mortal Instruments. I really can't wait for the next one to be out :D

message 26: by Rea (new) - rated it 4 stars

Rea Webster-lawson | 6 comments Really excited for the new book! Absolutely loved TMI and TID, but have to agree that city of bones is a but slow to start. The movie was odd. Seems like it was made more for people who were already fans and had read the books, than anyone else. I can imagine it would have been confusing if you didn't already know what was going on.

Bronte Elizabeth (itsbronte) | 11 comments I love the whole series, especially City Of Ashes and City Of Lost Souls! the only one I felt wasn't as good was Fallen Angels but that doesn't even matter because Lost Souls is so good it makes up for it! I'm so excited for.when Heavenly Fire comes out!! I think if you haven't read the Infernal Devices series though you totally should, they are my favourites and they have so many clever links with the Mortal Instruments! :D :D

I absolutely loved the film :)
However, I did something I never do and saw the film before reading the book. Therefore, I know I watched it without any preconceived ideas. I will say that I think Jamie Campbell bower is great as Jace. I fact they are all really good portrayals of the characters (although Lily Collin's doesn't have quite bright enough red hair to match the book)

Like all films it missed parts out but overall I definitely recommend it :D

Bronte Elizabeth (itsbronte) | 11 comments I agree, I kinda like that they changed it a bit rather than doing a bad re-telling exactly how the book is. and I love Jamie Campbell Bower as Jace!!!I think of the film as being desperate from the book in a way because of the changes, but regardless I enjoyed them both :D

Bronte Elizabeth (itsbronte) | 11 comments *seperate haha

message 31: by Kat (last edited Apr 03, 2014 10:04AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kat (ofthekat) I read the first book. It didn't quite make it to my favorite list but I was really impressed by Cassandra Clare's writing. I really loved her style of writing - her descriptions and little phrases added. I'm pretty excited to start the second book!

Edit: Forgot to mention I meant that I read first book for TMI.

Hayley Shaver | 7 comments Then I should read the book and watch the film. OK, now to read the book.

kai (t0xicf0x) | 22 comments I know it sounds awful but I'm finding it difficult to get into the second book, the first one was great though.

Joyce Gerhardt | 7 comments @chloe

It gets more exciting after book 2! Book 2 has some big revelations though ;)!

Now I want to carry on! Perhaps I will after I finish Eleanor & Park...

Emily Marian Stone (Emariane) | 4 comments Chloe wrote: "I know it sounds awful but I'm finding it difficult to get into the second book, the first one was great though."

I enjoyed the second one. I was still gripped by the third all though I can't say I enjoyed it as much. However, I LOVED the following books. It was these that really cemented it as a favourite series! I can't wait for the next one to come out.

message 37: by Anna (new) - rated it 5 stars

Anna Szalai | 1 comments ooh I loved the books! Evem though the fourth one was a bit of a let-down, the fifth was just overhelmingly awesome! I read Cassandra only planned to write three books, but she extended the story to three more (luckily :) I love the books, but don't you think it gets more and more violent and 16+ in each book one after the other?

message 38: by Emma (new) - rated it 4 stars

Emma Dalby | 4 comments Read all 5 of TMI and recently finished TID, now just (im)patiently waiting for CoHF

Ciana (cclovesbooks) | 3 comments I just started reading g it and its pretty amazing

message 40: by Dani (new) - added it

Dani (pastizzidani) | 16 comments I've read the first three, and I really enjoyed them, I haven't read the rest of them yet because I worry for how they go,
Seeing as city of glass ended so well. I'm going to continue the series soon and hopefully it proves to be amazing!

Darby | 217 comments I just started reading the first one a few days ago and I'm completely hooked :) my best friend completely gave away the plot and felt really bad until I reminded her I'd seen the movie. She always accidentally spoils everything, but I still love her >.<

message 42: by Zahro (new) - rated it 1 star

Zahro I've read The Infernal Devices but didn't like them much, and I've heard they're a lot better than TMI. Is it generally true?
(I'll be reading CoB anyway, though.)

Molly | 19 comments I personally liked The Infernal Devices better, but I had already read TMI before starting it which I think was important. Because of TMI I already understood the Shadowhunter universe, since they explain evreything much better in that series since it's all still new. And there are characters in TID who are related to those in TMI and theres a bunch of other connections to TMI, so if you've read TMI first you can really appreciate it. I think you should still give City of Bones a shot and see if you like that series any better! It'll probably be less confusing at least.

message 44: by Zahro (new) - rated it 1 star

Zahro I didn't have a problem with the world building (I think I read about it before in articles or wikia or something), I just didn't find the plot or characters too engaging.
( I personally have my standards lowered but I hope to be surprised.)

Darby | 217 comments About 3/4 through the second book. They're so exciting >.<

message 46: by May (new) - rated it 5 stars

May | 3 comments I love these series :) they are really well written and keep leaving you wanting more and more, I still have to read "The infernal devices" series which a lot of friends have recommended, I better hurry up since the last book is being released the 28th of May :) I can't wait :)

Nicole I love the Mortal Instruments so much! It's one of my favourite series. I can't wait to read City of Heavenly Fire, I'm going to borrow it from my friend but she hasn't read it yet so I have to wait till she's done.

Emilie Grace | 4 comments Just started city of glass! Excited!!
