Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments We'll be reading Cinder by Marissa Meyer, the first book in the Lunar Chronicles! Yay!
Guys for a while it seemed like The Wrath and the Dawn was going to win, but Cinder started getting votes like crazy!
I, for one, am very excited to be reading this for the first time (I know I know I've been living under a rock, I was waiting for Winter to come out, but finally Winter is coming, GoT pun sorry). Sci-fi fairy-tale retelling with amazing female characters? Sign me up!
Are you planning on reading our group read? What are your expectations! Comment below!

Frogli | 75 comments I kind of want to read it, it's been sitting on my kindle for ages but this month has been crazy (& not in a good way) so at the moment I doubt I'll get round to it.

Hopefully people enjoy it though!

I hope your month gets better! Sending lots of hugs and good vibes your way!

Roisin (incomplete-sentence) | 14 comments I have already read Cinder so I'm reading the sequel, Cress. And so far it's been amazing!

Rhia (rhiareads...) (rhiasaurus) I read Cinder, Scarlet and Cress last year but I'm definitely happy to reread them now in preparation for Winter!

Although I would've liked the excuse to buy The Wrath and the Dawn!

message 6: by Renuka , (eternal-books) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Renuka | 212 comments Buy The Wrath and the Dawn anyway Rhia!!! Gahhhh it's so amazingggg.

But definitely. I can't believe Winter's release is so close! What are your favorite moments in the series? My favorites are always when the whole group is together - they have such an amazing group dynamic!!

Rhia (rhiareads...) (rhiasaurus) All of it!! Haha seriously I couldn't pick right now, I'll have to let you know after I've reread them! I might treat myself to it y'know, I've been so good this month! I haven't been to the bookstore at all!

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments BUY THE WRATH AND THE DAWN!!! I'm currently reading it snd I'm obsessed. It's so rich and beautiful and intense. It definitely feels like a fairy tale.

I'm on the first chapters of Cinder and I'm really liking the world. I hadn't read this series before because I was waiting for Winter to be closer. But I'm very happy to be reading it now!

HEHE yes Sylvia. Make them all buy The Wrath and the Dawn... :D

But absolutely! One thing I love about Cinder is how freaking diverse it is! When was the last time you read a dystopian novel that didn't take place in America?? Right?! And when was the last time you read one that took place in China...??? RIGHT?! It's so freaking cool. The cast is so diverse, the villain is evil, and I love 'em all.

Rhia (rhiareads...) (rhiasaurus) I bought The Wrath and The Dawn! It's waiting for me on my Kindle now :D

That's actually one of my favourite things about the whole series, I think all the other dystopias I've read are set in the US or the UK and it's so nice to have that different culture!

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments I think the moment I finally fell in love with Cinder was when Prince Kai was talking about Luna and the political relation with New Beijing, and Queen Levana's past and her niece Princess Selene. I LOVE the world he's describing, and how the Luna army is so powerful. I can't wait to read more.

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments I JUST FINISHED IT AND LOVED IT, HOW COOL IS THIS WORLD? AND THE POLITICAL CONFLICT AND THE DRAMA, OMG THE NEXT BOOKS ARE GOING TO BE SO COOL.

LOL calming down now. Here's my review if you want to read my thoughts: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments I'm already on page 100 of book 2, and CARSWELL THORNE IS EVERYTHING!!!!!

message 14: by Silvia, (grangerandherbooks) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments LOL can you tell I'm obsessed with this series? I already finished Scarlet, it was AMAZING. Here's my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Danielle A (xoxodanielleeee) | 19 comments I'm so happy you enjoyed it so much! I was going to say you'll love Scarlet and Cress because the new characters are awesome! I can't wait until winter comes out. I'm counting down the days :)))

message 16: by Silvia, (grangerandherbooks) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments @Danielle I'm completely in love with the new characters and I adore Thorne and I can't wait to read Cress and I'm counting down the days for Winter!

Danielle A (xoxodanielleeee) | 19 comments Cress is adorable! She's a really sweet character. Thorne is such a hunk too so they're adventures are cool! You'll enjoy it! Also it's a lengthy book so a lot happens!!

Valerie (mmebookworm) | 16 comments I am so late. My copy just arrived from the library. I want to read it anyway tho, it sounds good and a lot of people like it :)

Sole (fluorita) I'm just going to say this: I'm weak and I blame you all for inciting me to buy this story.
Thank you.

Lol. It took me a few days but I read Cinder and now I'm onto Scarlet; tough luck for me since I won't be able to read Cress for who-knows-how-long, as it hasn't been published in Spanish yet (and I have to have the SAME editions of all my books :P).

message 21: by Silvia, (grangerandherbooks) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments @Valeria and Soledad, thanks to our challenge I completely devoured this series this month, I'm 100% obsessed and I highly recommend it, I know you're going to love this series too. And to Soledad, don't even tell me about it, waiting for books to be translated is torture!!!

Valerie (mmebookworm) | 16 comments I finally was able to start this book. I was a bit distracted when I first started it, but now I am half way thru and am having trouble putting it down.
The others in the series are on my holds list at the library.

message 23: by Silvia, (grangerandherbooks) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Silvia (biblionation) | 187 comments @Valerie you're going to have so much fun with the series! And Winter is finally out! I can't wait to read the final book!

Valerie (mmebookworm) | 16 comments Ok, I finished Cinder and have breezed thru Scarlet and Cress in the last few days. Now I am 28th on the library wait list for Winter. I think I'm going to have to just buy this one :)

Valerie (mmebookworm) | 16 comments Ok I know I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm going to post anyway :)
I am having so much fun with this series right now. I love how all the characters have a really distinct voice. Cinder and Thorne are hilarious. And I adore Iko.
One little thing is getting to me tho, and I want to let it go, but it keeps coming up - the Cyborg Protection Act.
Anyone else a little bothered / confused on the Cyborg Protection Act?
If Cyborg's are literally owned, and the surgery is very expensive to begin with, why would anyone do this? And if you are an adult who becomes cyborg (like the man in the draft when we first me meet Dr Erland) who owns you? Your spouse? child? The state?
I understand why it's included for plot, especially in Cinder. But it seems really poorly thought out or not explained enough. Cinder could have easily felt all those emotions of being trapped, and her desperation to leave came thru strongly without being literally owned, property, of her step mother.

Tamara (tamarasan) It's been a bit since I've read this, but I think the cyborg protection act was created after cinder was born / had the surgery?

Valerie (mmebookworm) | 16 comments It bothered me in the first book quite a lot. But in the third book it's revealed that the Cyborg Protection Act has been in place for many years.
