The 2016 Reading Challenge will continue the concept of this year's challenge, with 52 weekly topics. Users then choose a book fitting each topic in order to complete the challenge.

Eleventh poll:
Voting ends October 16 at 8:00am EST

Rules:
- One vote per poll per user

Now that we are in the final stretch, it is really important to look at how the suggested themes would fit into the current list.

Current themes that are similar to suggested themes:
A book that's title begins with the first letter of your name
A book with a first name in the title
A book with a type of food/drink in the title
A book with one of the five Ws -or H in the title (Who/What/Where/When/Why/How)
A book set in a different continent
A biography, autobiography, or memoir
A book by an author who writes under more than one name

Pages that may be helpful:
Popular Anti Hero Books
Author and Illustrator Birthdays

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) A lot of good suggestions. I had a hard time picking my top 4 and then putting them in order.

Brittany (tinsel hoarding bookdragon) (gamerkiti) This was probably my favorite batch of suggestions...but that made it rather hard to choose

Yeah, this was a tough choice, a lot of excellent suggestions. I have had at most only one of my favorites picked for the list (usually it's none), I would be so happy if at least two of them got picked this time!

Good batch, I'm very interested in 8 suggestions.

I agree, probably my favorite batch so far.

I should have suggested a book with an eye-roll worthy cover. Y'know, flex the ol' "don't judge a book by it's cover" muscle. Plus I have a lot of these on my to-read list. Maybe I will for next time.

Maple (maplerie) | 307 comments Em, I love that one! We have the beautiful cover topic, but that would make a nice salt and pepper combination for the list :P

message 9: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Emm that is a great idea!

Which makes me wonder if we can go opposite on some of the other topics that have already won. For instance, we already have a book with the highest rating on your to read least, what if we also have one with the worst rated book on your to read list.

message 10: by Charity (new)

Charity (faeryrebel78) There were 8 that really interested me, 5 I didn't want, and the rest I would be ok with. Hopefully at least some of the ones I like make the list.

Another idea: we could keep 51 weeks from the polls (with this poll and the next, the count will be at 51 if we don't have 5 winners) and use "a suggestion that didn't make the list" for the 52th week.

message 12: by Sophie (new)

Sophie (sawphie) That's a good idea Zaz. Would we vote on all the suggestions that didn't make the list, or ask people to suggest 20 of them?

message 13: by Charity (new)

Charity (faeryrebel78) I think there were too many suggestions to vote from them all. Maybe we could do one where everyone picks one past suggestions they really wanted to make it that didn't and vote on those.

message 14: by Stacey (new)

Stacey D. | 73 comments I like all of the genres/categories, but am having a hard time with the three series books. One implies you're starting a first book, another implies you're on the second, and the in-between is just mind boggling. Just sayin.

Most likely, the "first book in a new series" will be placed at the beginning of the year, followed by the "next book in a series", and then the "in-between" book. I think they flow pretty nicely :)

Series are pretty popular (I know I have about a million going right now) but if they aren't a favorite then it's just a way that the challenge is really a challenge ;)

message 16: by Stacey (new)

Stacey D. | 73 comments You know what- I just had a 'duh' moment and realized they were related per your response - thought they were separate series! The list I copied is out of order! Okay, that makes better sense! Thank you so much, Laura!

message 17: by Charity (new)

Charity (faeryrebel78) Stacey they can really be looked at either way. If you don't normally read series you can start a new series and read several from that same series to fit the categories. I'm like Laura and have a million going at the same time so I will probably read books from different series for each category.

message 18: by Stacey (new)

Stacey D. | 73 comments Gotcha. I have to keep an open mind here. There are a few that I'm thinking of right now. Thanks, Charity!

Sophie, I think we can just list the suggestions and members will choose the topic they are interested in for this week when they make their plan. No need to vote.

message 20: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Zaz, I love that idea. There are several categories that didn't make it that I would like, so having the option to pick which one I want would be great.

Michelle (girlvsbook) | 403 comments Mod
Zaz, that's a pretty brilliant idea. That way, if you're really sore one of your favorite topics didn't make it you could still use it - almost like a freebie week! I love it!

Some suggestions were made several times and never ended in the most voted so it will be nice for those who are very interested in them.
I can already see how difficult it will be to choose the one I prefer :D

message 23: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Barstad (maidenoflight) Yes, it will be very difficult for me as well. There are at least 6 that come to mind right now for me, but I know there were others as well.

message 24: by Aline (new)

Aline (thousanduniverses) | 53 comments Today I already checked twice for the results from the current poll until I realised that it ends only in two days ... I want to pick out the next books! :D

I like the "a suggestion that didn't make the list" idea too :)

message 25: by Ella (new)

Ella | 234 comments How about we take the next two that didn't make it on each of the polls and make that the last list?

message 26: by Jody (new)

Jody (jodybell) | 531 comments I almost missed voting on this! Lucky I saw Ella's post in my feed. :)
