It's been suggested we nominate this outfit for this 'featured group' on Goodreads.

Frankly, I'm a little dubious. I just don't feel we have enough activity going on here. We don't do reading challenges, book-of-the-month, buddy reads, or group reads. We're a somnolent bunch.

'Featured group' status might bring in new members, true. But is it worth it?

NO! NYET! NON! NEIN! I believe that we are doing okay as we are. I find reading challenges a gimmick that substitutes mass reading over quality reading.

So you're against it, Michel--? Is that what I'm hearing?

Uh, I think so!

I second that, in my humble opinion lets keep it simple..

Its not to say that we would adopt any new features as a result of being 'featured'. Many other groups simply submit themselves for this honor without going to any effort at all, in any other wise, to spruce themselves up. When I examined some of these groups earlier today I found them quite slovenly! Lazy housekeepers. Shocking and startling.

We haven't even got the capacity to add any new features (except perhaps an occasional extra poll or photo quiz). I'd need an assistant to embark on anything more ambitious.

David What does featured mean? Any benefits?

It means our group appears 'front and center' in the Goodreads 'Groups' section for about a month. Could mean a bevy of new recruits.

I looked over some of the other groups which have been featured and they're pretty pathetic. Disorganized, sloppy, shambles. Yet, they were approved..

WHAT? You mean that we are NOT disorganized, sloppy and in shambles? I am shocked!

We are most certainly not

I'm actually not the founder of the group; just one of two moderators who is more 'hands-on' day-to-day. Michael was the group's founder.

But on this issue I'm completely a-straddle of the fence. I don't have a strong feeling either way. I'm looking for something to topple me onto one side or the other.

I suppose my main concern is that
1) 'featured group' status should not make me do a lot of extra work
2) refer to #1
